| Quote ="EmmaMur01"Let him go now. I would rather have someone who is passionate about the club playing for us than someone who Leeds have bent over backwards for, and who isn't willing to return the favour.
His interviews before he came didn't sell him in the best light as I can remember an underlying tone of his commitment even then.'"
I think that is the crux of the matter and the homesickness is a smokescreen
There were rumours flying around at the time suggesting Eastwood would prefer to stay at the doggies if he/they could get him out of his Leeds contract. I think that is where his heart is and that is where he will end up.
This homesickness poop is an excuse to try and get him out of his contract. He/his agent were probably hoping GH would just rip up his contract and allow the big girls blouse to return to the Bulldogs.
Good on GH for trying to take a firm stance but I suspect that unless a player swap can be agreed that Excusewood will end up going for next to nothing.
I hope we are not looking at taking Andrew Ryan in exchange. He's been a good solid player but is now at the end of his career whereas Excusewood has yet to reach his peak.
I've watched the doggies the last couple of weeks on MSK and Ryan seems a solid,if unspectacular 80 minute player who does his fare share of tackling but hasn't stood out in the TV games i've seen If/when he does come lets hope he does a Furner.

| Yada...yada....yada. I've just wasted 10 mins of my life reading some of the nonsense on here.
When that rugby union failure was thrown a life line by GH due to our injury situation, one of the reasons quoted by Smithy was, he couldn't settle and missed his family! He was 2 hours down the road FFS! And yet, the same muppets slagging off Eastwood are the ones who were getting all orgasmic at Smith's return to HQ!
Window licking banjo playing s the lot of them.
Eastwood will be a big loss to Leeds. Players of his ability and age are hard to find, and GH will have his work cut out to bring in a suitable replacement. A hard hitting prop is also a must, as Peacock cannot be expected to maintain his current workload for much longer.

Hopefully their unsettling tactics come back to bite them and he ends up at another NRL club. Good to see GH playing with the Bulldogs on this one.

Thanks fook for that.
Im as disappointed as anybody over Eastwoods transfer request. A bit of me does feel a little bit annoyed because Leeds showed a lot of faith and commitment getting him over here. We went a full season a man short because of him.
HOWEVER I'm not fickle barsteward with some blue and amber tinted glasses on either. I fully understand Eastwoods situation. IMO, as already speculated, he never wanted to come over here after his spell with the Bulldogs. He made a career judgement like we all do and he got it wrong. Everyone makes mistakes in life and has regrets, I doubt Eastwood will regret all this but because he would have learnt a lot about himself. But at the same time he would acknowledge this was a mistake. Put yourself in his shoes ffs, he is in a foreign country with no family, because of his injuries he has had sit on his backside bored $hitless instead of bonding with the lads, training on his own.
Smithy was only down the M1, but no we we're glad to see him back wasn't we. He aint a soft c0ck is he?

We do. He's a mouthy gobe who:
a) lied to immigration about previous "problems"
b) lied to the club about previous "problems" and indicated they were purely driving offences
c) pished off numerous senior players and put a divide in the coaching team
d) beefed because, despite being paid a fair whack, invested in and being stood by, has been an absolute soft c0ck when it comes to it. The guy is living in Leeds, not 'kin Iraq. He should man up and get to grips with playing footy then enjoy 2 months off season at with his "family" at home as a singleton.
e) is he the only overseas player EVER to get homesick/pu5sy whipped?
f) To address some other posters point, cannot/should not be "released" to suit his narrative.
Caveat being, get on with it Greg, you are a highly paid sportsman who is smokescreening because you have bottled it at 24 years old. Puss.

I'd wager that 'Smithy' never wanted to leave in the first place. He was just a softc0ck who was so under the thumb that he began developing a bald patch on his head. Thats the difference.

Can you back all those allegations up?
As for (e) your not much of a Rugby League fan are you?
Just this season alone your forgetting Tronc at Wakefield...he was over here with his family and only last 2 months.
Its heavily rumoured in the Aussie press (just as much as Eastwood was) that Matt Orford wants to return home after been unstettled. I suppose Orford is a soft c0ck too? And I suppose you will line Eastwood, Tronc and Orford up and say to tell that to there faces would you?

| Just a comment to seth, if it weren't for the 'one-eyed' supporters there would be no such thing as professional sport. I bemoan people who only seem to care about their club and not the sport in general, but if I'm honest I'll admit its the very same 'biased know-nowts' who keep each and every pro club afloat. And it seems odd coming on a club forum and having a go at said people.....
As for Eastwood, he was lukewarm about coming over in the first place which he did purely for money. Due to his own f*ck ups he got delayed and discovered he liked living and playing in Sydney and basically never wanted to come. I suspect Leeds knew this but hoped that once he came over and started to bond with the team etc he'd change his mind - or at least happily see out his contract. The injuries have obviously not helped, but to be honest a lot of what I've seen and read from him comes across as self-obsessed and worse self-pitying.
GH is doing the right thing by refusing to let him go without some form of compensation. We may not end up getting anything like what they've asked for, but at the very least it will put a hiccup in Eastwood's return to Oz. The issue isn't the money at all, its telling the Dogs (and everyone else including Eastwood) that Leeds are not a soft touch.
On replacements, I don't see how we can sign any Aussie at all given quota issues as I thought half the reason for going for Eastwood was the fact he was somehow exempt. I'd rather we fork out for an English player in any event, and a prop at that.

Under the new regulations Eastwood, regardless of parentage or passport status should still be included in the 'Overseas Trained' quota and as such if he is eventually 'released' by the club that will at the same time free a quota spot even if they are in short supply, which I doubt is the case. As recently discussed on here, it's quite likely that Leeds still have room on their quota for 2011 due to the blanket exemptions introduced after the new quota rules were introduced.
That said I hope Leeds stay at home while sourcing a replacement if one is even deemed necessary by the club.
