| What makes this year's choice so difficult is that most of our stars have missed games yet the side generally has not suffered unlike in previous seasons.
But Cuthbertson has I believe added another dimension to our play thereby reducing our previous reliance on Peacock.
For that reason he would get my vote.
But I have no quibble with all the other suggestions.

| McGuire, Aiton, Cuthbertson or Ward are the front runners for me. The question from there is whose absence would have affected us the most, and I'd probably have to say McGuire or Aiton. Very tough to call this year though as nearly everyone seems to have had some really good periods.

| We genuinely have 5 or 6 players that could be player of the year and there wouldn't be many complaints complaints. That shows how good a team we have been. Add to that the massive improvements from Keinhorst, Singleton and the emergence of Handley and the future doesn't look bleak

| After the season so far, and especially last night, Cuthbertson for me. Last night he was a rock. quality offload, neat passing. In some drives it was quite obvious he wasnt looking to make metres on bash down the middle, drawing players in and getting that second phase going.

| For me I cannot look past Cuthbertson. Has been a quality signing for us. Gets stuck into the tackle, good athlete, does the hard yards and combines that with some good passing at the line and a quality offload game, something we have sadly missed since Ali left. I read today he has already achieved the most offloads in a SL season with 97, and the season is far from over. to compare Ali best season was 81 offloads. Most of them are quality offloads as well. Been very impressed with him

| I think we've seen some excellent performances from quite a few of our squad tbh the likes of Handley Sutcliffe and Singleton have stepped up and proved their worth and that the future is in safe hands.
Tom Briscoe started like a house on fire ,Hardaker has easily proved he's the best FB in SL bar none ,Moon has gone up another level ,Aiton is all quality and Ablett overall is having a decent year.
However like many others my top 3 are S.Ward ,Cuthbertson and Mcguire and id be happy to see any of them get POTY but Cuthbo shades it for me.

| After last night's game Cuthbertson definitely went up the pecking order..... what an inspired excellent signing he is proving to be.
Just hope not too many start targeting him (especially with those damn cannonball 3rd man in tackle incidents).

| Cuthbertson is top of the offload chart for the whole league with 97.
To put that in perspective, 2nd and 3rd place Taia and Tomkins combined have 91 (47 & 44 respectively)

| I don't recall watching much of Cuthbertson in the NRL.Its said his offload game didn't go down too well with coaches down there, however watching him for us this year there is so much more to his game than just throwing offloads at any opportunity. He has great hands, a deft touch, gets through a ton of work and i can certainly see comparisons with James Graham.Maybe he just needed to be let off the leash i don't know but he has been outstanding for us and wouldn't look out of place playing test or origin rugby playing like he has this year.

| The ball for Singleton's try - and the set up play of organising the runners that went into it - was the brain and skills of a half back in a prop forward's body.
That NRL coaches didn't want Cuthbertson to play to his strengths says more about the dull, turgid nature of their competition than it does about him. He'd be one of the first names on an England team sheet come the autumn for me. Imagine him, James Graham and a Burgess on the field at the same time. More than a match for anything the Kiwi middle unit has to offer.
He's already broken the SL record for offloads in a season with nine games still to play. In terms of a Leeds player of the year, it's Cuthbertson then distance then the rest for me.

| Cuthbertson has better hands Graham IMO. If he wants to play for England, then he should be a shoe-in.

I don't know about that. The Kiwi middle unit will be a combination of Warea-Hargreaves, Bromwich, Matulino, Taumalolo and Taupau. All are supremely tough and skilful players well capable of playing off the cuff. Both the UK and the Kiwi middles are better than the Aussies at the moment, but NZ is a level ahead. Fact is Graham, Burgess or Cuthbertson wouldn't get in the Kiwi side if they were Aucklanders.
Agree Cuthbertson Leeds player of the season and MoS so far, as said earlier on this thread.

| I'd say the England front row more than matched their Kiwi equivalents in the Four Nations. Add in the extra dimension of Cuthbertson, and I think that gives them an edge. There are some good players in that NZ side, but on home soil I don't believe there's anyone in their pack to be scared of.

Warea-Hargreaves and Matulino were injured for the 4 Nations. It makes a difference, and a lot will depend on exactly which players are fit for either side. But if NZ come over at full strength we could be in for a rude awakening because they are really, really good at the moment. And their big men are all of the type -like Cuthbertson - who will probably be better playing without the rigidity of the NRL. I'd much rather be playing the Aussies.

I noticed this right from the off with him. He directs and organises traffic in attack just as much as the HB's do and throws in the passes to match.

McGuire improved passing game but sadly with age and injuries cannot run like he used to
aiton dummy half play improving all the time but cuthbo player of season especially arriving so unheralded

He's definately got a HB's way of thinking/organising in attack.

| Cuthbertson , Ward or McGuire.
Cuthbertson has been terrific. His offloads and general passing are exceptional. It's the extra dimension in the middle that we have lacked for a long time. He also does his graft. If only we could take 10 years off Danny McGuire's legs he'd be looking at 30 plus tries this season.

I agree.I have lost count of the times he has picked up the ball as a support player, or gone clear himself only to be run down before the line for what would have been certain tries a decade ago.Still, he is a far more rounded player these days and what he has lost in individual brilliance and pace he makes up for in his general half back play.
