I like Shenton and hope he stays at Cas

I'd rather see Watkins get the chance at Leeds and I also think Watkins has got more potential to his game than Shenton, if he ever reaches it is another thing.

Because what we want is a league where every game is tough so the players can't just go through the motions. The top players need to be playing at a higher intensity.

In a league consisting of a big 2, then a host of mediocre clubs beneath them, then that will not happen.

I can only wonder what sort of fate you'd wish upon a player you didn't like.

I think we can also point to the respective careers of the two players. Shenton was built up in that particular game and Senior gave him a masterclass.

I can understand the principle of what is said, but we are years and years and years away from that.

In the meantime, if every potentially really good player plays alongside mediocre players they will just not improve. Therefore the logic of making us stronger internationally goes out the window.

I understand it needs to start somewhere, but it will always be catch up working that way.

I thought defensively that side was pretty sound & that surprised me since I thought that was the weakest part of Shenton's game. But then I've only really seen him trying to defend against Senior who has tended to nullify the attacking potential of any Superleague centre playing on his side of the pitch.

Did I not say Shenton was a good player? Do you think that he's a patch on Senior? Even now, when Shenton should be in his prime and Senior his dotage there's a gulf. Thats' not to disparage Shenton because Senior is the best British Centre around and has been for a long time. So, as I said, prepare to lower your standards when he is replaced.

Also, I also feel Watkins has more potential. It seems I am not alone in that view.

I don't think We'll ever "replace" Senior because what he's done in his position at Leeds will take something special to emulate.
As for the names bandied about who could of eventually taken his place in the team wether it be Atkins or Shenton i'd of been happy for either to join us because i think at a better club in a better team both could reach higher levels of performance,skills and success etc although now there's no need for either imo.
At the moment we have a really good prospect in Watkins and i think/hope he will eventually take the 4 shirt and make his own legacy and along with the likes of Coady and Delaney only been 24 i think we have adequate depth in the centre's.

I think you'll never ever get a centre as good as Mong ( sorry ! ) ever again. He's getting better as he gets older but was it me or did he look like he's been in the gym over the offseason as he looked bigger in the body last week ?

If Senior keeps his fitness he has got at least a couple more seasons at centre, so early days for a relacement
