A lot of Ferguson's ruthlessness though came from getting rid of players he fell out with like Beckham, Ince, Keane etc. and a "no one player is bigger than the club" stance, not because he thought they had 12 months too many on the clock. Also a lot easier to rebuild when you're one of the richest clubs in the world in football.

They may need to nurse him throughout the year a bit. Wonder if cuthbo may be going and JJB moved to prop, hope cuthbo stays but it would open up cap space if Hardaker also stays down under. I'm not sure about JJB at prop but I guess then he should get rest time in games and not get so knackered as of late.

On Friday we seems to be playing Sutcliffe at prop in first half. The only thing I know for sure is I know nothing about modern rugby league

If the idea is to go with 3rd prop at Loose, JJB is near perfect for this, even at his age.

What I would like to see us do though is add some more mobility in the front row, all our props seem very leaden footed in defense, which puts added strain on us and was especially noticeable when playing without a 9 defending in the middle.

Well this is a little off topic, but there were two major reasons for his success post Leeds (although it wasn't that many trophies tbh)

1) his experience at Leeds knocked him down a peg, I mean how arrogant do you have to be to go into a dressing room full of experienced players and say that they didn't deserve the medals they had won under Revie and should throw them away, getting sacked made him realise he wasn't such the god of football he though he was

2) unlike when he was at Leeds, he has Peter Taylor with him, he was always the one who controlled Clough and imo he should have been called his co-manager not assistant, if he had come to Leeds they probably would have won a European cup or 2 there

Clough is my personal least favourite manager, even if you ignore his arrogance, his homophobic treatment of Justin Fashanu (including even stopping him training with the other players) is for some reason rarely mentioned, but set back attitudes in football for many years and shows the type of person he really was

That is what i would consider. It means we can have two of the bigger front rowers on constantly aswell. JJB at loose and a rotation of Cuthbertson, Galloway, Singleton and Garbutt in the front row should be solid enough down the middle. Back row of Ward, Delaney, Ferres and Ablett. It doesn't sound all that bad of a pack when those guys are available TBH.

Playing Sprake all that time cost Leeds a number of trophies - even Revie admitted that.

I have seen more than my share of live games and am entitled to my opinion. You are hardly a good advert for watching a full game when you come out with running down a player who was top tackler with 46 and made most carries!

I value the opinion of someone who makes judgements and observations based on something they have seen, over someones regurgitation of numbers.

You may have watched it but it was apparent from your comment that you opinion is flawed and not for the first time. I rate the opinion of others who were there and whose acumen is backed up by the stats. If you watch but don't see beyond your prejudice your opinion is suspect.

JJB was all effort in both attack and defence last week but there was very little impact to back it up.

I thought he was ok like he often has been this season but the problem is he wasn't subbed off until the 64th minute and then back on in the 74th minute. Way too long in that opening stint. Should be off after 25/30 mins, back on after 55/60 mins. Leaves him with two roughly 25 minute spells with a good gap in between.

So are you also running down his contribution to the game? Is it fair to pick on our top tackler and not value his positive contribution. Not being at the game does not undermine in any way the facts I pointed out that were unreported by the self appointed critic.

To choose to be critical of a player who made a major contribution is what is ridiculous. To not report the positive facts of his big efforts is a flawed comment in my book. My comment did no more than report the official stats which did not require my attendance to be valid.

Your logic is ridiculous. You can not say, or nobody with an ounce of sense would do, that someone's opinion if flawed when you haven't even seen what they were forming that opinion on.

Whether he reports positive things is irrelevent. The discussion he had was on the actual impact of those stats, which are not as clear as numbers.

I look at Printers post, and he is alluding to something spot on, limiting JJB time may well lower those stats, but the impact of it may be far greater for the team. This is what you are failing to grasp, despite people there watching it.

You can say what you like but 46 tackles in a game and topping the number of carries is a JP like performance and like JP that sort of effort will naturally slow you down so the odd miss will happen. To put the negative ahead of the positive shows an unbalanced judgement.

Statistics can be used to support a point, they cannot be the point.
