AS I've said previously and I'll say it again at present we are below the salary cap, probably by a huge amount. But Eastwood is still supposed to be coming over for next season, there are also several players out of contract at the end of the season who the club need to negotiate with.

Until the club has a clear view on the outcome of Eastwoods arrival and these negotiations then the club will no saign a big name player because next years salary cap will be tighter than this years by at least one player. If the club knows Eastwood is not coming or have decided they don't want him then they are in a position to bring someone over and could bring them over early.

Does anyone know with certainty the situation with Eastwood and the negotiations with out of contract players? I doubt it, although the club may. Anything else is idle speculation on the basis that the club have a large ca space for 2009 which they may or may not have in 2010.

We have more pressing needs for recruitment. And if a centre was going to be signed, I would still prefer better than him.

Maybe he thinks we should be aiming at better than Wing, even though he thinks that Wing would be an improvment?

I saw no evidence of him playing second row for NZ at the World Cup or in last week's Test Match V the Aussies. Subject to the granting of a Visa, which thus far has eluded him and then subject to his desire to take up the deferred Leeds contract rather than sticking with the two years remaining on his Bulldogs one.

Far from a definate that we'll see him at Leeds next season at this point. I for one don't expect to see him play for Leeds, although it remains a possibility that he might.

psst, keep it quiet but I'm also in the "I'll believe it when I see it camp" about Eastwood, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

Lets play fantasy football for a minute. If you're after a battering ram type forward - particularly if Kylie leaves and assuming Eastwood (not a battering ram but who cares) doesn't come - I'd be looking at Willie Mason and O'Meley together.

Mason's a tit though. Bluey won't have him, what with him being permanantly on the lash etc. Josh Perry would do me, as well as Eastwood.

Don't give a fu*k about fantasy, Can't be hard to attract better than ablett, kirke, burgess + centre. This is Leeds we are talking about, super league champions, steeped in history, biggest crowds in english rugby etc.

I assume you do know there's a salary cap? FWIW I'd suggest that Ablett, Kirke and Burgess are pretty sound squad players of the sort that most clubs would die for. Ablett and Kirke have two GF winners' medals IIRC.

I was being a bit mischevious suggesting Mason, but TBH when I look at the Leeds squad and team it's the pack and the poor form of our playmakers that looks to be more of a problem than one centre.

To be honest i am talking of attracting players mate, not what they have won or lost, don't care for the super league era and its lack of natural talent. can't be a WORST supporter, i don't go, but i do belive the hoards that do deserve better.

The one Leeds are signifantley under? while ablett, kirke etc. are established first teams rather than squad members.

We never struggled to attract players in the pre Super league era. We never won owt either.
