| I remember walking out of headingley with my 5 year old son at the time and my missus on a fri night when FC beat your lot to be called a cod head & my missus was shouted at you smell of fish then when I said grow up was offered out so it works both ways yobish fans are everywere at every ground this needs to be locked down now because its going to far, the topic was supposed to be about FC & KR merging but this is not going to happen as we average 17000-20000 supporters combined so go chat e about wakey/cas or Salford/London poorly supported clubs.

Actually if you read the start of the thread it had pretty much closed down after a silly start and gone off on a tangent until a couple of visitors decided to just read the first post, ignore the responses and have a strop.
Let's get back to business: where's the best cake shop in Hull?

We nearly have, there's just a couple of green fields to separate us now, we just haven't told them they'll all have LS postcodes soon but they keep getting little hints like when Leeds Council objected to the plans for Wakeys new ground because it was right on the border and we thought it would spoil the view, or something.

I await this answer with great interest.
My usual stop-off in Hull is the McDonalds at St Andrews Dock or the Costa in that weird pineapple building thing there, you can at least guarantee some consistency in the coffee and cake in those two whatever town you're in but I'm always open to suggestions of independent cake shops.

Are you suggesting there's a good cake shop on prinny ave? The missus used to live there and we often head that way when we're in town (at least we did before we had the little 'un). I'll be very cross if she's hidden a cake shop from me.
Dunno about Leeds cake shops. Bit out of touch these days. There are a couple of cafes down here that do a nice bit of cake.
Do they even have cake at Queens?

I don't think they do, I can understand the posters disappointment if he went there in expectation of cake and found a rugby club instead, its an easy mistake to make though.

| In 1961 me and my mate 14 year old lads were abused verbally in the threpenny stand and by grown men and have always held it against the place since.I know all Hull people are not like that, but it stuck with me.I also remember in 80s in the supporters club at Headingley a rather large female Hull fan just got up on the stage and gave a song and dance performance. Now that was culture

| Quite funny really that people from Leeds think they actually live in an area like Chelsea or Fulham . Ive been to Leeds on a regular basis and it's rather like Hull (some nice parts and some absoloute dumps) .

Looks like despite Pearson's investment - perhaps Ellis' much vaunted:
'I realised I still really wanted to win things and achieve things and I really believe I can do that at Hull FC' - and then being a very expensive crock.
More are jumping ship:
Holdsworth gone
Briscoe gone
O'Meley gone
Tickle gone
Lynch gone
Lots of money thrown at a side that ended up being cup runners up (nothing to brag about)
Perhaps its time to merge the Hull clubs and free up a space in SL for another side.
Neither FC or KR have done bog all since FC won the Challenge Cup way back when.
Maybe that why they walked out of the recent meeting...'"
This post was so bad i think it gave me a nosebleed.
Man united and leeds united should merge together.

Now you've started a debate. You've only yourself to blame when it gets nasty and personal. I'll start and try to keep it calm and rational.
Cheese cake isn't a cake.
I'm quite partial to lemon drizzle cake myself. Or a nice ginger.
Cake. Ginger cake.

Well as already pointed out, the only time that cheese and cake should be seen in juxtaposition is when eating christmas cake with a nice bit of wensleydale on the side.
But a nice walnut cake and a strong black coffee is hard to imagine being beaten, a decent wedge of cake too not those piddly little maiden aunt slices that don't even touch the sides when swallowed.

| Cheese cake??????????
I told you Hllians (sorry Gilder but I prefer this word for the inhabitants of Hull - it just sounds better than Hullensian) are a bit strange. I bet they have bread barms as well.
When it comes to cake I don't think I have a favourite, it's like saying "which is your favourite child?" - although, obviously, I prefer cake to my children.

| I'm sure that as a child in a place of learning of my frequenting, we were given battenburg as a pudding with custard poured all over it and in that manner that dinner ladies have you didn't get a choice of whether or not you had the custard poured all over it.
Speaking of which - those squares of sponge cake with a layer of jam topped with coconut and with custard poured all over - those days were almost worth going to school for.
