From my seat I'll at least be able to watch the night sky cloud formations as the sun sets.

| The club might also give away free food in the form of turd sarnies in order to encourage more folk to turn up.
Doesn't mean you have to accept the turd sarnie.

| Not sure where all the Burrow stick comes from . As long as he is not playing as an organiser he has plenty to offer especially from the bench . Most of the season he has been our only threat . As for Mags i'm afraid it is thanks for the memories and to be fair there has been plenty of them

| McGuire proved last year to me he is far from finished, and i was one of those who said he was prior to that so i will not be making the same mistake again after what has been an awful year all round for the team as a whole, where most have played way below what they are capable of.
Those wanting to bin him as garbage perhaps need to take a little step back and look at the squad situation as it stands right now. We have one rookie half in Lilley and that is it. Sutcliffe appears to be making his way elsewhere in the team right now and doesn't seem capable of leading a team around the park. It's August, all the best OOC players are pretty much tied up. Yes, he maybe 34 going into next year but big game match winning half backs like McGuire don't grow on trees, and shouldn't be tossed in the bin off of the back of a scratchy year. A good pre season and i see no reason why we can't get two more good years from Danny.
I do agree regards him not being skipper though moving forward.

I do take your point, but There has to be planning involved here. I, and i suspect many others on this board already feel we are a quality half short of being at the top again right now and that is factoring in we still have McGuire still at the club for next year. Getting rid now would leave us with rookie Lilley and possibly Sutcliffe as options. Burrow as a desperation cover option maybe. Who would we bring in? Who could we bring in? McGuire will be on a big wedge and is contracted for next year too so doesn't have to be forced out. I'm not even sure how long his deal is.

| Agree with Biff.
I am also concerned that McGuire's legs have gone but in this injury ravaged year, it maybe he has just kept playing partially fit.
What I would say is that even if he struggles next year he has earned the right to go out on his own terms. He has 1 year left on contract.
He along with rest of squad will have a lot of motivation to perform a lot better next season. He will not want to bow out like this.
I've watched for 45 years and would put him in the top five players in terms of volume of contribution in a Leeds shirt. The others being Holmes, David ward, peacock and sinfield. He would probably sit above wardy for mine.
From the cc semi in 2003, key try in 2004 gf, vital tries in 2008, excellent games in 2014 cc semi and final to last years 2 try performance in the gf and loads in between.
Only really class players can still be turning grand finals with an 11 year gap.
This man is highest try scorer in history of super league from stand off, appreciate was easier when he started.
Given what he has done, he deserves the chance for one last hurrah. I'm sure the mind will be willing even his body gives up.

I agree we need to rebuild but we are only talking about McGuire and burrow having 1 year left. JJB has not signed yet for 2017.
Last year he won Harry Sunderland trophy. If you axed a great Leeds player like McGuire with one year left what message does that send to others about the club? If club forced issue would need to pay him in full anyway which comes off the salary cap, if I understand that correctly (which I probably don't).
If he really feels that the injuries have finished him off, he may retire but I doubt it.
It is easier to be ruthless with multi millionaires and no salary cap, even then he kept scholes for years.

| Quote ="Juan Cornetto"JJB has a high work rate and can play long minutes. He also has an unmatched enthusiasm and never say die attitude which is infectious. He may not be as good as in his younger days but nobody matches his consistent high tackle rate which allows the likes of Garbutt to make make big metres due to less tackles (29 less than JJB against Hull KR and 373 less tackles for the season) In a team game players can have complementary roles. IMO JJB still has a vital role in the side and we play less well without him. Cuthbertson is a shadow of his former self and does not deserve a spot currently. Keinhorst does deserve more time in place of others rather than JJB.'"
Ahhh the good old "spreedsheet uber Coach" has spoken
What you didnt see is how knckered Jjb was after 25minutes only for your "hero" to switch him to prop!!
Gotcha has covered the other defensive issues as for Cuthbo maybe your idol has managed him woefully ala Delaney et al.

jjb has some serious thinking to do as he has a couple of options available for 2017
i fully take on board what posters have said regarding him looking poor whilst he has defended out wide and that he has lacked the pace to play there anymore ( he was selected to defend out wide by mac)
jamie has always been very self critical of his performances and has always said that he would not over stay his welcome should his level drop below his own high standards,
he has told me that he knows that he can still give some top quality performances for 2017 but that he needs to be defending around the ruck area each game to maximise his impact on the side
jamie is still the leader of our group both on and off the field and his influence runs very highly throughout the club and he is still an integral part in us moving forward and integrating our next generation of players
imo i believe that he will have one last season playing in 2017

I agree. I think this coming few years could be the most difficult for GH to try and keep Leeds in the trophy hunt. A team getting old together and with little to come out of the academy in short term. There is little quality to buy in uk and getting quality from aus is increasingly tough.
Given what jonesy has said above, my best guess is that McGuire, burrow and JJB leave at end of 2017.
Hardaker and the hooker then become key. Although Leeds can say hardaker will only go with a fee, they are stuck signing wise not knowing if he will return.
From little I know they went after gale earlier in year. No chance of getting a good young Aussie half, so choice will be the stick with what have or enter the Aussie misfit halfback game.
Again best guess is we won't sign such a character

Didn't cost Revie all that much, he won the league the year before he left, then Clough came in and spent more on players in 6 weeks than revue did in all his time at Leeds and they were a disaster.
That shows the dangers of disrupting a squad if nothing else. Many have spoke of a culture problem this year, getting rid of one of the clubs best servants certainly won't help that.

Our teams average age is lower than it was last year when we won the treble, so Im not sure your point stands.
IMO we should loan out Hardaker next year and sell Achurch, that should be enough to get a decent half to play alongside McGuire.

| depends which team is put out regarding average age. a team with handley and lilley is less than one with hall and McGuire. also i'm guessing it was kylie, JP and sinfield that bumped up last years average so this year was bound to be less whichever way you look at it

Agree Hardaker position is key.
Suspect even the sleeve would struggle to raise more than 10 bob and a bag of conkers for Achurch.

Yet after Leeds United Clough went on to have more success than Revie ever had!
