| Quote ="Remarkable_Rhinos"I'd love to read an "Anti-Bailey" poster's match report on him and compare the two.
FYI, I'm with BB. Thought he did well, first game in a long time and still not 100%. I think what most people forget is he's primarily a "bench prop" and not supposed to be the game changing & dynamic superstar most people try to claim he should be. With the current "prop crisis" (and more specifically the injury to JP) his performances are likely to be much more under the microscope. He's currently been asked/expected to fill in for JP, and clearly he's not capable of just stepping in so that nobody notices JP is missing (who is capable of that?!?!) but Bailey has a role in the squad. A role which he fills incredibly well. There's no doubt we're a stronger team with him in it.'"
By you own recent posts we should be expecting a solid performance with the odd moment of genius which will be better than everyone else in the team. Are you now saying we should not expect a moment of genius from Bailey as he is a "bench prop". If no moment of genius, could his performance be described as anonymous? Then he is no better than Kirke!
You'll find that when some on here give him the title TMFMISL then it is not surprising that Bailey's performances have to back it up .
If he is to justify the title of TMFMISL he should be judged with the likes of JP, Morely and Graham. If not, then maybe his name should be changed to The Most Feared Bog Standard Player In Super League and I will assess his performances accordingly.

| For those who care Bailey contributed over 8 metres per carry (from 9 carries) and got through 28 tackles (4 from marker with 1 miss - a 96.5% tackle success rate). As I already clocked myself he knocked on (1 handling error) and 2 penalties were awarded to him.
So from watching him, I had said he tackled his heart out, ran strongly and overall had a strong comeback.
The stats don't disagree with me do they? Or we could listen to the radio and forget about going to matches and watching them and from that making opinions, judgements etc.

It's those little qualities which often go unreported on a full match commentary on the radio.'"
It's things which also go unnoticed to many an eye within the ground. Watching the game, and understanding what you're watching, are not necessarily the same thing.
I'll not be mixing with the salt of the earth types on the Western terrace this week I am afraid. Can't lower my standards two home games in a row. So you'll have to view the match without the benefit of my expert analysis.
Never mind eh, you can always rely upon the expertise of the likes of John Boyd, David Doyle Davidson and other such radio luminaries to help you form your opinions. Guffaw etc etc

You are apportioning far too literal a meaning to the acronym label. The repetitive application of the TMFMISL label is best described as an attempt by his fans to convey a sense of irony, as well as a simplistic tool to wind up his detractors. This came about as a result of a polarisation of opinion WRT his value and worth to the team. On the one hand, his fans always overstate his value and worth... on the other hand, his detractors always understate his value and worth. The truth lies somewhere in-between. He is neither a great player, nor is he crap. He's a middle-of-the-road squad player who offers something to the team of value and worth. He doesn't pull up any trees and never will (despite his early promise 7 years ago) but he does do all the little things well which go unnoticed. On occasion, he's very good at [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JVWUpbBhAY[uwinding up the opposition[/u[/url however.

Radio commentary can often exhibit sensational and inventive posturings about team or a players performance. It can be quite a revealing multitasking methodology attending a game whilst listening to the radio match commentary. The two don't always meet, hence the enhanced overall perspective to be gained.
I always give the newspaper hacks a wide swerve afterwards though, particularly Peter Smith of the YEP. I can read all that believist bollox of spinology in here for free

True ...but essentially the press and the radio have the same agenda
which isnt always to reflect the game with any large degree of accuracy. IMHO

Not taking TMFMISL title at all literally, hence my use of TMFBPISL, and I agree with your assessment of his place in the squad. Far from comparing him with JP. I class Bailey with the likes of Kirke and Cross as one of the players that are by no way inked into the 17 on a weekly basis and one that Singleton, Ambler and Amor could oust.

Whilst his worth is not of the calibre of JP he certainly IS inked into the 17 when fit as his appearence record will back up and whilst i look forward to the likes of young Singleton breaking through it will be a while yet before he or any of the others mentioned will oust him (unless of course his contract does'nt get renewed).

| Could TMFMISL's contract really not be renewed? Don't even whisper it unless it becomes true.
Can see the headline in the YEP.
The Most Feared Bench Prop in Super League's contract not renewed!
It's just not possible.

It'll be those damn consistently solid performances. I tell yah, bane of my life those decent players are! Who do they think they are, turning up every week, putting in a half decent performance, and helping the team to victory.
What an idiot, doesn't he know people are wanting to drop him?! He needs to just follow Lee Smith's example, and be c[ir[/iap. Then he'd be dropped and everybody would be happy with a Bailey free squad.

I guess that depends if you insist on including those soft meters from kick re-starts?
You were pretty keen to exclude them the other week from another 'prop'
Quote ="Damo-Leeds"Well that’s one for TVOC to look up. When where Leeds last kept scoreless in the first half in super league – if ever?'"
Sorry for the delay - been away today and just catching up.
Others have correctly recalled fairly recent manifestations of this phenomenon. In total it occurred on four occasions last season alone. However 2010 did include a feat rarely seen - consecutive first half nillings. 28th August V Warrington in the Challenge Cup Final (0-14) and the following week Away at Hull (0-12)
If anyone is interested (as all those recalled were away from Headingley) the last time Leeds failed to score in the opening forty in a Home game was V Huddersfield (0-6) 14th June 2009.
Finally people often recall the half-time 0-0 game V Hull at the KC Stadium in 2004 but few seem to recall the other 0-0 half-time game for Leeds during the SL Era. And that game was played at Headingley.
