The Delaney song is ok I suppose but the Peacock song is just plain stupid, sounds like some playground thing that a 12 year old thought up.

| Apparently JP quite likes it. My mate asked him about when he did a QnA in pudsey. He said Lee Smith always brings it up.

| Glad this pointless argument has popped up again. Really. Few terrace chants are original to the club where they are sung, and it doesn't really matter. It isn't just the core around the band that sing it, I was singing along in the old Paddock in the late 80s.
At least from this latest incarnation of the MoT thread we have learned that Lee Smith is apparently not a swallower..... I don't think I needed to know that though.

| I personally would class myself as a leeds united(home season ticket holder and 10-15 aways) fan and more of a casual leeds rhinos fan(go as many times as finances allow)
personally the song to me represents the togetherness of a club and at the moment and for the last 10 years or so the rhinos represent that far more Leeds united

…and the Liverpool fans who sing “You’ll never walk alone”. Even Gerry and the Pacemakers didn’t even write it. I didn’t know Liverpool fans were such huge fans of Rodgers and Hammerstein or wanted to join gospel choirs.

| Pointless. It's a song who cares if it was origanally for Leeds united. As a big Leeds utd fan as well couldn't care less. Love signing it and it's a great song. Surley we have bigger things to worry about

| Quote ="McLaren_Field"You could also make a strong argument that its Don Revie's Leeds Utd anthem* and bears no relevance to the current excuse for a football team in the city, its sung without reference to LUFC any more and its about the most successful sporting team the city has ever seen.
*Speaking of course as one who was there at the time and still has the white silk "Super Leeds" scarf to prove it
'"
Quite right. I was there too to see the Bobby Collins and the youngsters gain promotion and go on to take the First Division by storm. I remember too the song getting into the top ten of the charts towards the end of the great Revie era. It is fitting that the song has crossed the city to be sung by the city's current sporting legends.

From 1972 so should be celebrating it's 40th anniversary.

| I thought it was only non-Leeds supporters who thought it shouldn't be sang by Rhinos fans, as it is for LUFC exclusively. I just put it down to their jealousy of our great club and their own pettiness.
I think it is a great song, a great anthem for Leeds in general, and until something better comes along we should continue singing it at every game. It is well loved by the majority of Leeds fans.
At least we don't just adapt 'when the saints go marching in' like it seems every other club does.

| Remember going to Wembley in '99 with a Leeds United fan. His first rugby match and he was dead chuffed that we had virtually the same songs.
The song that most winds me up is 'Oh when the Leeds go marching in...that and the first two notes of the Last Post repeated ad nauseam by the band in the last 10 minutes of a game.

The band in general do my head in!
They must be hated by every sports team that they follow around!
They actually get paid to go to England away games from Pukka Pies!

This
Anyway, the only reason Jarvis dislikes the song is because he is a "big" Villa fan so for him it causes conflict in his pea sized brain. The other thing banging around in there is, "It's Friday, what can I do to wind up the people I stand with at the rugby tonight?"
Somehow, he always manages to find some way to do it
