Signing another back rower would indicate there are no plans for Sinfield to return to playing loose forward any time soon.

It would also mean that when everyone is available one of Ellis, Delaney, Ablett and JJB would have to get used to operating off the bench rather than in the starting line up.

I'd have no problem with Delany coming off the bench. He'd certainly add the most impact. I guess Hauraki would have to leave though

Ball is in his court then. Hes not pulled up any trees at Leeds thus far. A shame.

Hauraki departing and Ellis arriving is well worth it and will give that extra "Leader" in the pack when JP leaves.

Fingers and toes crossed it's us that he comes back to.. surely we must have the cap space to fit him in comfortably... if it's tight i'd get Weller H (can't spell his surname lol) off the books pronto..

One word of caution though, our track record on past players coming back aint great though... Harris (a blessing in hind-sight) and Morley went elsewhere....

Harris didn't come back because in reality would he have gotten into the squad with the emergence of Burrow and McGuire? Also there are a lot of rumours that Noble (the then GB coach) had promised to always pick him for the GB squad.

As for Morley, he came back to where there was lots of money at Warrington. I have it on good authority we offered him a very good deal but Warrington just gazzumped everyone

I wouldn't.

I do hope he can be brought back at the right price, but if somebody else offers more than he's worth to Leeds (and he may be worth more to sides less well equipped in the back row) then I wouldn't advocate Leeds matching them.

Missing out on Morley was hardly a hammer blow to the club in the end was it?

Missing out on Harris was (alongside the arrivals of Furner, Ellis, Peacock, Webb and Lauititi) one of the best things to happen to the club in the transfer market in years.

Warrington Gambled and it came off.....Morley is from over the Hill anyway.

Saying that though GH won't break the structure for anyone and GE knows full well what our set up is and iirc he turned more ££££ down from Wakey and the Dulls to join us in the 1st place.
Also where Howes is gazumped this time GE has already stated his ambition for trophies and challenging for medals over the extra ££££££.

Ellis will come back to us I'm sure of it, and so is his Dad, in which I'm inclined to believe.

I hope he does and several have informed me it's done and dusted all who have been reliable in the past so the sooner it's announced the better imo.

From reading the last couple of pages, even if Ellis doesn't sign it sounds pretty encouraging that his dad might.

If only we could convince Ryan Bailey and Danny Ward's dads to sign. No-one would mess with our pack.

I would still say that Ellis would be better than any one of our second row options. However, I am wary of signing him up on a long deal on lots of money. Obviously GH is a smart man and should get the best out of any deal that may have been made, though I would be surprised if it was more than a 3 year deal

About as well as Sir Kevin is a Warrington, I suspect.

At least Lesley Vainikolo as a hit in each of the 3 seasons in which he signed for Leeds.

Wouldn't swap him for JJB to be fair. But he's better than most 2nd row options anywhere in Super League.
