When I went to the Huddersfield game. A guy behind me annoyingly spent the entire match shouting out loud his opinion of the ref. "How everything that went against us was always wrong".

I think, no matter who the ref is, no matter who the teams are. They'll be some supporter for the opposite team who feels just as badly done to, as you do.

Even as a Leeds supporter. I refuse to believe, Huddersfield or Saints are always offside but Leeds never are.

Wasn't he the reserve ref at Saints/Wigan match? Anyway he was stood on the touchline.

Yes Terry Halibut was the reserve ref for that match. It was a surprise even for the sky commentary team

Of all the referees Bentham is perceived as being the most likely to try to level a game up when one team is winning the arm wrestle.

That said, he can't do that if you don't infringe around the ruck, put high shots in, throw the ball forward or just plain drop the ball.

And don't talk back at him.

I'm a big fan of Thaler, but have no problem with Benthams general game.

Where I do have a problem with Bentham is that I can watch games where there is some of the most obvious of miles forward passes, and he does nothing. Yet Leeds he seems to ping for it (even 50/50) at every opportunity he gets. I say keep Webb away from left hand side attack on Saturday.

I say keep Webb away from the pitch on Saturday. Apart from one good break on Friday, he's done nothing else that sticks in my mind over the past few months. Oh, apart from decide he didn't want to play during the last 15 minutes at the Galpharm and get skinned by a second-rower, by trade, at Wembley.

The two key decisions, as it turned out, in that game weren't made by Phil Bentham.

One came from a SL qualified referee running the line failing to spot that a ball had actually gone into touch off Josh Charnley, and the other from the video referee playing guesswork on the Leuluai grounding.

As long as Bentham doesn't stiff us like he did in the CC final.

Agree with you there but the worst decision of the game was when Delaney was speared into the turf in an illegal tackle and Bentham penalised Delaney for a knock on. Considering he was stood 5 yards away and it was so clear cut it was the worst decision i've seen this season bar none.

Correct, one of them was Kylie deciding to shoulder charge Lima off the ball when we had it on Wigan's line

I thought the missed forward pass to Lima for his 2nd try was pretty key also at the time. Not sure from memory whether it was the touch judge or referee that missed it though.

Phil Bentham is the only referee St Helens will have seen during this season's Play-Offs.

All refs make mistakes just hope he doesn't make a howler that effects the outcome of the game

I'd chose Alibert but he was never in the running this season.

I've always liked Thaler, probably because from memory we seem to do ok with him in charge.
