Given the cap position Leeds are in (which is pretty much public knowledge) and the rumoured interest from elsewhere for 2010, if he took a pay cut then he wants to think about changing agents.

I think another quality prop would be a good addition to the squad. I thought the major reason Leeds were so dominant in 04 was the pack rotation of Bailey, McDermott, Feather, McDonald and Ward. They were kept fresh and it resulted in great years particularly for Bailey and Ward. 2 props starting, 2 on the bench. Magic.
Only having 4 recognised props I feel sometimes hurts us. Kylie, Peacock, Bailey, Scruton and Burgess was a good combination last year and was used in a similar, but less effective, way to the 04 bunch, but the lack of a replacement for Scruton I feel lets us down.
Glad Leuluai is back though. Worth the money for some of his tackles alone.

I think it is more likely though, given the length.
Peacock did the same thing earlier this season. If Leeds increased Kylies salary, then they are not doing a good job.

| Maybe I am swimming against the tide here but unless something improves in his game I think this is a poor move unless he has taken a reduction to stay?
His overall contribution is pretty small given his lack of stamina - we all seem in agreement that the forwards have been unable to lay the necessary platform this season but we give one of them - perhaps the weakest of all a contract extension - doesn't add up to me unless he is cheap.

I too think it is a poor move.
But I am pretty confident it will be on reduced terms.
Would still have rather gone out and got Lynch though.

I would agree and a change of environment would do him the world of good - the other guy who I would think would do well from a change would be Scarsbrooke at Harlequins.

| For the good of the game in London, that's exactly where Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook should remain.
He's an example to young kids in that area of what can be achieved even if you come from a non-heartland area.

| Although I disagree with them, I can see where DISA and Eccleshill are coming from on this. My opinion is that it would be far more disruptive if Leuluai left Leeds, and that he will be far more effective if rotated on a larger roster of forwards. Had Eastwood materialised, I think we wouldn't be making as big a deal about the forwards not laying a platform.
Has there been any further news on Eastwood by the way? Are people still expecting him to be with us next season? If so I'd be happy enough with our squad, provided Smith, Ablett and Kirke all stay on as well. If he doesn't come I'd be very disappointed if we don't sign another quality forward.

For the good of game, his profile in the game, and the England side he needs to play in a better side with better players - realistically where has he got more chance of playing in GFs and internationals - staying in London or moving north to Leeds?

That would depend on whether his convictions disappear off his record between now and next season I guess.
If they don't, it's hard to see him being granted a visa given the refusal this year.

How does having all the best players concentrated at one or two clubs do anything to enhance the good of the game either in London or elsewhere? We went down that route in the early 90s, I don't recall it as a halcyon period for rugby league.

I wasnt' suggesting we should get him in now, and I very much doubt the Bulls would release.
But we were talking about instead of Kylie. If he was not OOC I would not have suggested it.

It depends on how you view the game - for me player development is very high on that list - I want to be entertained by players playing to their potential will Scarbrook ever reach his true potential if he stays in London or will he improve if he joins a squad of better players that challenges him to improve?
Concentration of top players in a small number of clubs doesn't seem to have harmed Chavball - are we better at international level than we were when Wigan dominated the game? We may have a more competitive league but do we have a better quality league?
