I'm delighted agar rested so many/played the "baby rhinos". I think the club really fancies another big dig for a grand final. At the very least i feel there's a plan in place as to how to go about it. In fact I'd go further; I'm genuinely confident we can do it.

We'd have lost this one full strength one week after CC anyway.
No our only chance (very slim)is to win remaining games against the lesser teams.

| Quite a number of positives from the game.
McLelland looks like he has the kicking and passing game to step into Gale's boots when the time comes. I'd like him to take on the line more but his chance will come when he's in a full strength team and we're not always on the back foot.
Harrison put in an immense effort and kept pace with the game without looking out of place. Walters had a nice touch for the second try. Holroyd looks like he will also be able to make the step-up to the first team when needed.
For the older heads, Donaldson did well to wind-up Walmsley in the first half. Liam Sutcliffe also showed a lot of toughness. Thompson looks strong, like an upgrade on Ferres from last year.
On the other hand, I know Walker is still very young and very much recovering from injury, but I worry that he looks on the small side and doesn't quite have the pace and power to become a really top full-back. I hope I'm wrong on this, and that the competition with Myler will help him develop his game to go up another level. But compare Walker's athleticism to that of players like Simm and Makinson for Saints...

Flip, are you seriously saying Walker is not on that level?
Classy classy player, and his game is not about outright speed or power. I'm expecting Walker to be first choice International full back for the next 10 years!

Think Jack Welsby might have a say in that.

| He is a good player, had a succession of injuries and needs time. He isn’t for me the best defensive FB and so maybe struggling to show his best in the second string too.
Controversially again, I’m not sure where Alfie coming through the reserves might pass Walker in 2-3 years, very talented lad.
Hope Walker can get fully fit and back in form soon because he has a lot to offer.

| Alfie is still a boy but i wouldnt think he would reach Walkers standard. If Liam Whitton or Iwan Stephens couldnt.
Jack Walker, while still needing to improve, is very very good. For any kid to take hos spot in next few years would mean something has gone badly wrong i would think.

Well the way Myler is playing at the moment yes. Walker has to improve his link play. Full backs have to be able to create space for the outside backs and at the minute Myler does it better than Walker.
Jack is still young though and will come back. Hes a good player.

| I guess on the plus side, Myler gives most of the bits missing in Jack’s game - although his physicality is up to him to develop. Not a bad player for Jack to learn from; if he can pick up some of Myler’s game it will improve him.
I think Walker just needs more game time to play himself back into form. He was reasonably good against Saints, and hard to chime in to attack with no field position.
Wonder if Edwards will get a run over the next few fixtures.

| Is Dwyers contract up at the end of this year?
And if so do you think we might play Myler there with a view to playing FB if Walker gets injured?
Big risk for me as I`m not sure Myler can get through 35 /40 tackles a game.
Would you keep Dwyer or give O`Connor a chance?

| Jack Walker is both brave and hungry, thought was excellent under the saints bombs. Injuries permitting, he'll be good for Leeds for the 2020's.
Dwyer has signed a new 2 year deal up-to end of 2022. Good to have 2 options plus o'connor as a possible option, although he can tackle and pass, we'll see if he can add something in attack to his game.
Good idea letting Edwards get a feel for being in match day squads but agree with fanstan, bit early to play.

| I dunno, I’d be ready to give Edwards the last 10-15 mins if we’re in control of a game. Difficult to predict when that would be though granted.
Myler for me is a FB and then reserve 7 at a pinch. Really don’t see him as a 9 at all. Myler is probably 5th choice behind Leeming, Dwyer, O’Connor, Smith... in fact 9 might be where O’Connor could end up at senior level - great engine, decent pass and solid in D.
Straight out battle between Myler and Walker for FB although Walker will get there in time.

Plus if his profile is correct it has him down at only 12.5 stone height 5ft 9.5 if that's correct he'llget smashed if coming on in the second row.

| Dwyer signed a 2 year deal a few weeks back.
Plan a month or so back was for Edwards to get a game before end of the season but with the battle for a playoff spot continuing we will see if that happens. The 5 ft 9 12.5 stone profile was when he joined scholarship i would think and not updated. He will be close to 6 foot now i reckon. Super athlete. Bit early for him to play but wouldnt do him any harm. Still a kid though. Morgan Gannon is bigger than Levi, hes really developed physically recently.

| Would you give Gannon a chance this season or too early?
I am sure I noticed on the coverage for CC Final, Myler being said to be around 5'10 and 13 stone 3 in weight. I thought he was much smaller than that but suspect I only get that impression from him being surrounded by far bigger players.

Morgan is doing his A levels so hes not training every day like Levi so probably not at this stage.

It time will come but for now its hard enough for the fringe players to get a game. I hope Walters gets another chance against Wakefield but this time with a more established pack.
