| Quote ="DHM"At the time (2002-2004) Dunneman was superior in all around game to Burrow and McGuire. He also filled in brilliantly at 9 when we lost Diskin in 2005. I still am convinced that if Joe Vagana had not fallen on Senior's leg in the home league game- basically ending his season (even though he "played" in the CC final) we would have won everything in 2005 and Dunneman would have been a key part of that. We played the best rugby I've seen from a Leeds team and were so close in everything (and let's not forget the Bulls salary cap breach that year and Adrian Morley appearing for their playoff games).'"
Great post. Agree

| That 2005 team was immense, peak Tony Smith and the best rugby I've seen them play. Because they never won anything that season it's definitely been lost to history

I was on that terrace as well that night, Gorley hit Roy 3 or 4 times, big Roy crouched down protecting himself and launched an upper cut from about a foot off the ground. Gorley was covered in blood and his legs had gone, I remember both being sent off big Roy ran past us up the slope into the old changing rooms with a daft grin on his face. It took 2 small Widnes trainers forever to get gorley off as he could not support himself. He got dogs abuse from the terrace.. reckon it was around sept 1983.
That’s how I remember it anyway,

| On the Fordy tackle, rumour has it that it wasn't old Phyllis that stopped Offiah from scoring, more when Martin's chin hit the floor at the the surprise of being caught and dug a wedge out of the turf. I was right behind it on the West Stand, looked magnificent two real speedsters in full flight. Be great to see that kind of speed and footrace these days instead of the biff barge kick to the wing stuff we have nowadays.

Offiah was a total freak of a player and he also read the game so well that he popped up on the field and in areas to score tries that i have never seen any other winger do in any era.
Defenders simply couldn't get anywhere near him due to both his speed and evasiveness and plenty of those weren't slow either.
I have found this video montage of Offiah in action and it's well worth a watch even though he never played for us

| Offiah was a natural athlete. He nailed us on many an occasion. The 10 in a game against us was probably the darkest days in our clubs history. Embarrassing.
Offiah in his day was special tho.

Lucky enough not to go, was away that weekend.
Instead decided to watch it in the caravan sites bar which was stuffed to the gills with Cas fans and a Bradford supporting bloke I know through work who couldn't believe his eyes.
Was an absolute inept performance that, the harder they tried the deeper they sank.
Think the majority of our section coach went back to the pub / never left it that day also.

| just watched the game on ' RL Cares ' the Widnes one with Hughie's jaw been broken by the thug Moriarty and Grima and Izzard nearly ending up in the South Stand. What was very poignant was big Roy Powell interviewed in the dressing room about his unexplained collapse and he said he swallowed his tongue and then panicked and if I remember right he had a couple more unexplained ' episodes' before his tragic and untimely death.
With today's medical advances and head tests etc , something should have been picked up and maybe the lovely guy would still be with us.

absolutely devastating afternoon. we had battled past Warrington in previous round with a fighting draw over at wilderspool and beat them handily in the replay so went to central park with reasonable optimism only to see the white flag waved; as good as Wigan were we were abysmal.

Possibly the worst display I have ever witnessed from a Leeds team. I couldn't watch any more after they had reached 60, it was that bad.

A truly terrible memory. Lowest point in 45 years watching the game, I genuinely couldn't "spake" for days.

| The 2004 game at headingley against the Bulls is on YouTube now.
After some of the towelings they gave us the previous couple of seasons and the absolutely nauseating crocodile claps it was the game that showed we were the real deal. McGuire and Chris Feather in particular were outstanding, and it was the best game I'd seen at Headingley in the summer era up to that point.

Sky's top 5 GF trys.
I'm not sure how Donald's and Graham's from 2007 doesn't get in before 3 of those.
Robinson's GF try has to be the most overrated try of all time.

They must be running out of games that was ‘premiered’ a few weeks back - vividly remember that game, that to me was when I knew we finally had a chance of winning the title, McGuire was awesome that game

I agree in Robinsons try never thought it was that special, Donald’s was way better.
Not seen the sky thing but Burrow’s try is surely first?

| It is indeed.
Speaking of the wee man, I watched Leeds-v-Bradford at Magic Weekend 2011, the one where we win with a penalty try.
The dummy Rob sells late in that match is bought by three Bradford players, allowing him to waltz through and run half the length of the pitch to score. It's glorious.
