I think what they were to do was acknowledge exactly the point you've made which would have been a perfectly sensible response rather than categorically stating they wouldn't release him unless a replacement was lined up, fail to complete the deal and then let him go anyway making themselves look a bit foolish. There was no reason for them to say that and noone would have argued if they hadn't. Because they chose to say that they now look daft because as things stand we're starting the season weeks later without a replacement in place

How do we know they don't have someone lined up subject to the passport? Seems like that is holding everything up at the moment.

They may have even lost out on someone due to the waiting. I think Agar is pretty transparent, and wouldn't have said we would arrange replacement even if it hasn't come off.

I don't ever remember Agar saying we had a replacement for Merrin lined up. I do remember Agar saying Prior wasn't Merrins replacement.

No more signings before season starts and Martin and the passport thing has not yet been sorted. This is still ongoing, these Pacific islands don't do everything at 100 miles per hour, they have quality of life not quantity.
Look at the start of last season and look at the squad now, a huge improvement on last year. We may not win anything but I expect us to play a lot better and be closer to the likes of Saints and Wire. Its best to have cap space available as opposed to having an empty wallet when possible signings become available. Lets see where we are after the first half dozen games then we can start to kick come LOL.

Leeds could be using Martin’s visa as an excuse not to sign anyone. He may have already obtained it but easier for Leeds to say he has yet to receive it to give them more time to make a signing.

I said who is available. I am sure you appreciate that if somebody is under contract and the side who have that contract do not want to release them whatever we do, or anybody else does, it really doesn’t matter does it.

So I will say again give me a name, or a couple of names of players you think are available, want to come to the Uk and make us better.

I think most of that question is impossible to answer to be fair. There are plenty who would make us better. No one can possibly know for certain who is open to leaving their clubs or indeed if their clubs would be willing to sell.

Already posted way back we have Stephens who covers FB/Wing Broadbent covers Centre/Wing Corey Hall will break through at some point given time & a chance plus we already have L.Briscoe who's now fit.
Of course there's the current set up with L.Sutty at Centre Newman on the Wing.
A.Sutty can cover Centre aswell and before anyone pitches in about experience Evans came from a div 2 P/T Club if he was worth a SL spot he'd have been snapped up 2yrs ago.
Now of course we could also release T.Briscoe who's best years are way behind him & enter the transfer market for a genuine decent signing rather thsn a journeyman squad filler who usedto be ok.

Not seen Stevens but looking at his profile hes small and light weight he would probably get smashed if he played against seasoned SL wingers at this present in time.Broadbent looked like a boy on the wing against Bradford,he looks about 12 months at least before hes ready.
