| Quote [size=150What was today's penalty count?
I left with the impression it was heavily in the Giants favour[/size.
'"
Mmmmmm not sure but a more interesting stat would be when then penalties were issued. Alot of fans are wise to the fact that when a team is on the wrong end of certain harsh penalties the ref will try balance it up once the game is over either way so the after match report looks a little fairer.
Quote ="G1"Our discipline was as bad as early stages last season and Silverwood was not to blame for that.
[size=150My only issue with Silverwood was his failure to penalise Crabtree for using Ali's arm as leverage in the 2nd half and then penalising us for exactly the same offence in the Giants next set of six. Its' a nasty little tactic creeping into all teams (both sides were penalized for it on Sky last night) and I'd have liked Silverwood to have handled that fairly as Ganson did.[/size
I am sure many Leeds fans will be blaming Silverwood for our defeat but we had plenty of opportunities on their line in that 2nd half and looked very lost with the ball. Again, I expect the halves to cop some flak for that but there was an appalling lack of runners and an even more appalling lack of set moves. [size=150[size=150Once JJB and Keith were forced into the centre wing combo and we had an immobile, slow back row of Peacock and Kirke it was hardly a surprise.[/size[/size
A bit of a a gaff tactically from our coach today, IMO.'"
Did Silverwood not penalise Raleigh for a facial on a Whino's player but say nothing when Big Eorl was having his nose re-arranged?
Did Silverwood not issue Leeds 2 penalties for holding down before halftime but none to Giants for same offence until well late into the game once we were back in front?
Onto one of your other points other teams are all struggling with injuries too

I only have one minor issue with Silverwood's performance which I stated and have no issues that your team deserved it's victory.
It seems even in victory, with a probable large penalty count in your favour, you still find reason to whinge?
Says a lot about you.

It wasn’t his one-sidedness or bias calls that get my goat (TBH the calls made were about right) it’s his inconsistencies - both ways. One minute he’s penalising for laying on the next he’s allowing 7 second PTB’s, he’ll miss a blatant ‘chicken wing’ tackle then a few plays later it’s whistle to lips for the very same offence.
It’s frustrating to watch so God only knows what it’s like for the players.

| Leeds are champs for a reason and today's game would give us a indication as to how well we are progressing. If I'm honest I expected a Leeds win today but not by many. I can honestly say I'm very pleased with the out come of 2 points but also just how we are improving as a side.
Great traveling support today btw!

I whinge at the ref when we win unlike some who blame him when they lose
The reason I whinge is the game today could have been a defeat for the Giants due to some dubious penalties given only 1 way.
I have no issue if we end up losing the penalty count 30-10 aslong as the 2 teams are pulled up for exactly the same offences.
What gets my goat is that this does not happen, why did Silverwood let the game go on with Lawrence flat out on the field of play for 5+ tackles till the Giants got the ball then stopped the game? Same thing happened at other end with a Leeds player and he stops the game straight away?
It leaves him open to be accused of Bias and it shouldnt happen TBH.
Raleigh gets pulled for a facial, Eorl gets one and no penalty forthcoming?
It leaves him open to be accused of Bias and it shouldnt happen TBH.
Giants pulled for holding down at least 2 occasions just before halftime, Leeds get away with it?
It leaves him open to be accused of Bias and it shouldnt happen TBH.
No idea what it is with these refs but until they are either consistently good for both teams or consistently cr@p for both teams, then I will bring it to the attention of anyone who listens more so when we have won, so people know it's not sour grapes!!!!!!
Consistentcy is the KEY in all this

| You should try focusing on what a good game it was, rather than the ref.
You should try focusing on what a great team you have to watch these days, rather than the ref.
You could have come on here and posted about some of the great tries scored by both sides, rather than the ref.
You could be happy that your team have just deservingly beaten the triple champions, rather than the ref.
FWIW, I thought you got a decent rub of the green from Mr Silverwood yesterday.

| I thought Silverwood made mistakes for both sides and it turned out even in the end.
Imo on the last play of the game it wasnt crossing - The time when Peacock was in for a walk in try. Leeds simply had a dummy runner and the Hudds player made a very bad judgement and commited himself to the runner, rather than the runner blocking him off. But whats done is done and imo Leeds lost the game by not taking their chances.
When Hudds got on our line in the 2nd half they scored. When Leeds got on the Hudds line we didnt. That was the difference.
It was always going to be massive task with JJB at centre, Senior on the wing and Hall on one leg. Huddersfield have a cracking defence and Burrow and McGuire didnt have the key to unlock it in the 2nd half. Maybe if Sinfield was playing he would have found the passes he produces to get the points, but it wasnt to be.
I would say roll on KR, but that is going to be tough.

| I try to look on the brightside. I think if watkins and hall are both injured, the prospect of bjb and coady on the wings is tastie! now this one is out of leftfield but amor has played a lot at centre, I would like to see amor get some game time if injuries persist in pack or maybe the backs?

It's a ridiculous suggestion, as is playing Coady on the wing. Did people not see how poor Senior was yesterday playing in that role?
If we are short on the flanks Bush and Chisolm can do the job. Hell, all a winger needs to do is finish the opportunities created. As long as Senior and Delaney do their jobs (or fit enough to do), we should have no problems on the wings.
Where we do have an issue, is that Webb does not look fit either. And if that is the case then BJB needs to be recalled and rest Webb. But only recalled if it's for fullback.

It's also the hardest position on the field when you're defending. You're often left to make snap decisions whether to come in or stay out, how to best attack a kick coming your direction etc.
The assertion that you can stick a couple of kids on the wing and providing the centres play well it won't be an issue is well wide of the mark IMO.

Is it balls. It's an injury crisis. So you reckon throwing an inexperienced centre on one wing, and an established centre (and potent attacking weapon) on the other wing is a better alternative?
Is it hell. It might be a problem if that kid had never played wing or only just getting used to the position. But if they have played it throughout junior years, and are used to the clubs systems, then they club should have no worries about throwing them in.

| That wasn't what you said though was it? You said (and I quote)
"Hell, all a winger needs to do is finish the opportunities created".
I've no doubt that Bush and Chisholm could, and may have to, come in and do a job. They'll have to do a hell of a lot more than just catch the odd ball and fall over the line though.

I think ridiculous is a bit strong I'm not trying to kneejerk by talking of an injury crisis but like andy I think throwing in kids isn't always the answer. I felt the size of coady and bjb also maybe amor(I know this is a little crazy but has played as a back) would give us more solidity in defence in the face of adversity through injury. backs to the wall so to speak. I feel coady could make a good crash bang winger and bjb has already played on the wing and from what I've seen is a good strike player! just a thought in tough times old chap!
