They didn't have any in for last round of cup. Leeds not wanting players cup tied. Obviously feel fine to Let Watson and Hood be cup tied.

| Chase reminds me a bit of Briers - when he's on his game he's outstanding, when he's not he's appalling.
To coin a phrase from well respected Bulls fan "he's either Penthouse or sh[size=100i[/sizethouse"

Well how the draw panned out it could well be 12 of the 16 teams left are SL clubs so probably SL opposition in the next round too. They (Hood, Watson) were probably saved last time around in case we got someone like Hemel or The All Golds in Round 4 but against SL opposition (even one near the bottom) then McDermott was always going to good strong.
Probably better for the 2 guys actually, tough learning against Catalans.

Blah blah blah, Chase is the best back in SL, blah blah blah, if you don't agree you're clueless, blah blah blah, best Cas player ever.
But Mr Chase wanted the Hell out of Cas last year though didn't he but wasn't allowed. Mr Chase still wants the Hell out of Cas.
Oh and you might want to run your post through a spell-checker before you hit the Submit button - just makes you look a bit daft otherwise.

That's pure irony given the bollox you've posted recently
My opinion remains the same he lacks consistency and once again last night when the game was in the balance one no6 stepped up whereas the other faded to the individual efforts that did zip for his team.
Oh and as a final note i don't get embarrased for having an opinion and never will.

| I'm with the Cas fan on this. I wish we would have pushed harder to get Rangi a couple of years back. No offence meant to Cas, but I do think in a top team he would have been unstoppable and with a Chase 6, McGuire 7, Sinfield 13 we wouldnt have lost many matches in the last 2 years... Not that it's mattered though.
On the field, Rangi is all class. I actually think The Dragons have got an upgrade as far as a playmaker goes. Soward can be good, but he relies on his speed and kicking game. Against the better defences he struggles. Chase has shown that he can break down good defences in a poor team.

| We've all seen Sinfield and other senior pros step up to the plate when we've had our backs to the wall (including last night)
When his team needed his inspiration last night, he spent most of the time 'Doing ASean Long' and hiding out at left centre.
I fail to see how with anyone else in the team, we'd have done much better than the number domestic championships or WCCs we've picked up in the last few years.
Being the big fish in a the small puddle that is Cas, I suspect he'd be a negative influence on our tight knit well bonded multiple championship wining squad.

| Harrigan-On the field he isn't "all class" though is he and he certainly isn't week after week.
He's a good player and has done some great individual things at times but again truly "Great" players do it more often than not and he doesn't imo.
I've seen Leeds as a team play woeful on many occasions but then either Burrow ,Mcguire or Sinfield step up and win games on their own Chase doesn't do that enough.
He's got some great skill and is a good player when he can be bothered at times but his consistency is lacking and like i posted above last night his team were well in the game with 20 minutes left and he went missing Mcguire didn't.
He may well improve in the NRL in a better team but up to now he's not this "RL Magician" he's hyped up to be imo.

Be careful.
Bigging up the credentials of any player at No.6 ahead of King Kev is considered a treasonable offence on this forum.
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to King Kev kinging it at No.6 in the RLWC

| Same can be said for any half. McGuire (who has been my favourite player to watch over the last decade) goes missing for 2 or 3 games at a time sometimes but he doesn't get criticism. It's not a level playing field with Rangi. He's playing in a p*** poor team and still manages to look good more often than not, even behind a usually well beaten pack. All i'm saying is if he was at a top team, this convo wouldn't have even been started.

Correct.
A Sinfield-orchestrated Castleford team would finish near the bottom of the SL ladder as opposed to finishing 5th.
The problem with most Leeds fans is they've gotten used to the slow, the methodical, the predictable, the unspectacular, the dour and winning when it's not pretty. Unfortunately, playing standards are so poor in SL these days, that's more than enough to win SL titles.

Maybe Rangi can think about that in his taxi on his way to Manchester Airport very soon ...

Yet Sinfields own individual quality would still be there week in week out whereas Chase doesn't!
Also EVERY SL title has been EARNED by the quality of our performances during the play offs and GF and not one has been dour.
The regular SL weekly rounds i agree aren't always good or even entertaining in some cases but the titles have been won by good performances and the DVD's of the games back this up.

What game were you watching yesterday?
For 60 minutes Chase was a clear MOM. I accept what your saying about McGuire, he stepped up when it mattered a produced a couple of moments of brilliance. But for the most part of that game, Chase completely outplayed him. That for me says Chase was more consistent.
And it does make a difference what team you are in like Harrigan said. This is a team game, not just one player, and no matter who you are you will not stand out each week without you team mates performing.
Leeds have a few players that would struggle to make any impression in that Cas side.

Chase had another good game, although as Orr noted his kicking wasn't as optimal as it might have been. In a clearly outmuscled team however it was a good showing. Do people really think that RL is a sport which can be won solely by the genius of one player whilst his teammates are outgunned? It would seem so. Once or twice a season a player might be able to do it but week after week if Chase, or Sinfield, are playing in the worst team in the league, that team will mostly be losing. But it doesn't prove anything about the individual player.

Given Chase was playing opposite Sinfield I am unsure as to why you are comparing his performance to that of McGuire? unless of course you might have to criticise Sinfield something that you never do and never see in any game.

I wouldn't agree that Sinfield plays well week in, week out. A lot of his regular season performances are ordinary at best. I wouldn't pay to watch Sinfield because he isn't an exciting player. I would pay to watch Rangi Chase.
Quote ="rhinoms"Also EVERY SL title has been EARNED by the quality of our performances during the play offs and GF and not one has been dour.'"
Leeds have been a dour team since 2007, but hey... dour works with this squad, particularly since Sinfield has demanded taking on more and more responsibility than he once did. It's no accident that the more entertaining Smith-era was only 50% successful, the less entertaining McClennan-era was 66% successful and the current extremely dour McDermott-era has been 100% successful at winning GF's.

My opinion is that Leeds grind out wins which they've done since 2007. It hasn't been exciting, nor has it been pretty but it works.
