Charlie, Cuthbertson has been a fantastic signing for you guys and is a breath of fresh in his style of play but do you think he is mobile enough and does he have the stamina to complete a full 80 minutes?
I obviously don't see him week in week out but he looks a natural as a prop.
If you guys don't want him as a prop we will gladly take him off your hands

Doesn't need to play 80 mins to start at loose. Can easily role on a 2nd rower and switch Ablett or Ward mid game. Delaney off the bench, Singleton rotating the middle men around.

| Stewart is not a typical NRL second row at all - he's a classy ball handling forward. He'd go very well in SL.

I agree on the second point he would do very well here - he has been a class player. I don't agree about the first point - he is no Ali that is for sure. More a tackler than a ball handler IMO. His qualities are not what Leeds need right.

| Stewart's role at Souths - and Manly beforehand - is as a ball handling forward, between halfback and threequarters on the right. He is not and never has been a tackling machine or a running forward. In Australia there hasn't been such a thing as a ball handling loose forward (i.e. extra halfback) for years, except in odd cases when bigger stand offs slow down too much and end up playing there - Jason Smith, Fittler and more recently Anasta. If Stewart was English he would have played very much like a Sculthorpe/Farrell, probably much more centrally than he has in the NRL.
I'm not arguing Leeds should want him BTW. He's old, injury prone and seems to have sulked ever since Manly told him he could leave.

He isn't a 9 though.
For what it's worth, I think we have signed the player you mention, will agree the Clark deal, and will also sign Stewart, or someone just like Stewart as a replacement for JJB who simply has to give it up. And I think JJB will be the new under 19's coach.

Getting all 3 of them will be a massive statement of intent from GH, but can't see it happening. Not all 3

You might not agree re the first point. But you would be wrong. He's know as one of the classiest ball handling forwards around.
Unfortunately he can't get he body right. Staying fit is a massive issue for him.

| It looks set that he's off to Catalans. If fit, he'll be a very good player for them. one of the best in SL. As BrisbaneRhino said he's *not* the typical NRL forward any more than Cuthbertson is - he's a ball-handling loose who could just as easily play stand-off. Not an urgent area than we need to spend big money on though.

Maybe you could explain how he manages to average nearly 40 tackles a game - I would say that is quite a lot of tackling wouldn't you?

No maybe imo. With Robinson still at the helm that squad would be fighting for the title without doubt.I don't see much change with the current regime.

Catalans need to get Carney fit and on the field if they do they will put up more of a stern challenge next year. Myler is a good signing for them.

Quick calculation about half their squad. Which is a better proportion of local talent than most SL clubs.

He's an NRL back rower it's his job to tackle. I never said he didnt defend. You said he wasn't a ball handler which he is renowned for.

I said he is a typical NRL back row forward i.e. the primary job is to tackle - he can pass so can a lot of them - Stewart is not unique in that respect in the NRL.

| Sal, Stewart is a ball handling forward. Have a look at last week's match vs the Roosters - he was virtually playing stand off the whole game. At Manly he was the link man between his brother and Jamie Lyon, and at Souths was the link between the halfbacks and Dylan Walker. He is not unique in his role as ball handling forward, but he is far more than a forward who can pass a bit, he's been an integral part of the attacking structure.
The Dogs aside there's no forward I can think of that plays anything like his role. Its not an offloading game, its a passing game.

I think you can see from the Aussie based posters that you have maybe missed called this one.
