| Bramhall Lane FFS!...its not big enough for a start! I'm sure a draw is highly unlikely...but that selection is just plain daft IMO.

| city of manchester stadium would have been a better choice, bramall lane has been mentioned for an international game or a cup semi but if wembley does end up a draw chances are it will attract more people wanting tickets not 58k less

| Let's hope for a result one way or the other on Saturday.
At this point I'd rather win but if that isn't possible I'd rather lose than face a replay.
Another factor (if this is the way to decide a CC Final) that convinces me the tournament concludes too near to the play-offs commencing as was discussed on here yesterday.

| Personally I cant see it being a draw, and not having a winner on cup final day would be a disaster but as both set of fans have indicated that "it wont be a draw" because of the drop goal specialists in each team have the odd just got a whole lot shorter for a drop kick with 20 seconds to go....TO TIE THE GAME!

| Whilst I don't want a reply either, it is worth considering have the RFL's hands been tied by the BBC ?
Their schedules are tight on a Saturday evening and whilst they're 'forced' to do it for wendyball games, maybe they've forced the RFL to have a reply as part of their broadcasting contract ? Showing an extra 30 mins of rugby would, to them, screw up their schedules and especially since they've got the likes of the X Factor breathing down their necks for ratings on ITV ....

| If the BBC's early evening schedule is an issue I wonder why they can't plan the main broadcast window to include any extra time if required and then switch to the RED button for the cup presentation/ post match analysis/ interviews and forum?
I understand some of the build up this year will be via the RED button as it is, as well as there being the post match forum on there.

| it doesnt have to be extra time. golden point will do will probs take 2 mins tops and atleast a winner is decided ill leave wembley annoyed if its a draw and seeing as both teams have realistic hopes for winning the playoffs i doubt both sets will want a replay so will be intresting final 5 mins if its close

Extra time is fairer. Gives both teams 20 minutes to win. Say Leeds win the toss in GPET and make 70 metres in the 1st set and kick a DG. Hardly fair is it. After the 20 mins of ET it should be GP.

That theory would make much more sense if replays were used for every other round. They've had no problem accommodating extra time in the past.
My guess is that this is an RFL decision - and a stupid one at that.

| This stupid extra time cost us in 2003 because we wasn't prepared to settle for the replay, so we were forced to go for the try

| I have a big worry now that the more we talk about it the more likely it is to happen
Bramall Lane though FFS???
Someone somewhere mentioned COMS. That'd be an ideal size. BL will probably just hold enough for ST holders and members.

| Having experienced leaving Wembley after witnessing a draw (even as a neutral) it felt a bit empty/odd to say the least.
The replay at Elland Road was a fantastic night though and possibly David Topliss' finest hour in club football.

That was the last one and the only one I've seen. The previous one to 1981/82 was in 1953/54. So basically just lately there is a drawn Challenge Cup Final at 28 year intervals and 2010 is 28 years since the last one.
Really close misses:
1985/86 Castleford 15-14 Hull KR
1986/87 Halifax 19-18 St Helens
2005 Hull 25-24 Leeds
