| With half backs likely to be McGuire and Myler, Sinfield must be in the team for his organisation and kicking alone. Not to mention decision making, passing and leadership.

| Strong in the forwards but the half back look a bit premature imo.
Tomkins and Eastman are going to be very good players but its a year too early. Also a lot of average players like Sykes, Briscoe and Shenton.

| Quote ="G1"Eastmond can't get selected at club level ahead of Sean Long. Myler finished the season with a whimper.
You shouldn't be "given" anything. It should be earned. Burrow was GB's incumbent. He'd done more than enough to retain it with Myler in the squad as cover.'"
Myler finished the season not even getting into the Salford side as McRae planned for the future without him.
So GBs halfbacks for this tournament are a kid who couldn't get a game for his club side, one who played the business end of the season at centre because two players who couldn't make the squad were ahead of him at club level, McGuire and James Graham Junior?
That's before you even get started looking at the outside backs. If the Aussies don't stick 50 on us it'll be a moral victory.

TBF Eastmond was Saints only real danger in attack on Saturday. As much as Long controlled things Eastmond was the only one who looked like doing anything.
Wouldnt play him centre though... Hodges and Inglis???

| I really fear for us because although the likes of Eastmond and Tomkins are good prospects, it is a massive step up on the basis of a good season.
We are good in the pack, but the backs remain a concern.
I'd be tempted to give Tomkins and Myler the HB spots and put Eastmond at fullback.
Either way, I think TS has limited options for the threequarter line.

| Glad Senior hasn't been picked. Give the guy a rest for next year, and let his replacements sink or swim.
No Wellens, JJB, Burrow, Pryce from previous years.
Surprised Smith is in, although what he lacks in long term gain, he makes up for in versatility.
My 17 would be
Briscoe
Hall
Shenton
Smith
Fox
McGuire
Myler
Graham
Moore
Peacock
Ellis
Burgess
Sinfield
Roby
O'Loughlin
Morley
Carvell
Look good with forward options, with Crabtree, Wilkin, Westwoodn all missing out.
Threequarters either look inexperienced or not good enough to me

I agree. Had saints swapped Eastmond and Pryce round, they may well have provided more danger in that game.
Eastmond probably deserves his call up. Bridge and Sykes are nonsensical decisions.

I know but he will still have those attacking abilities wherever he plays. If he can get 1 on 1 with Shillington or Hannant he should make them look stupid.

| The forwards are awesome and will match the Kiwi's and Aussie's. A half combo of McGuire and Myler could be ok behind a dominant pack. But its the centres and FB that worry me. Thank goodness Falou aint playing.

| Smith being selected shows just how short of centres we are, we should have brought Senior and Gleeson back. We have very little experience in our backs I believe McGuire will be the most experience at international level back in the 13 and that will cost us.

Name me four better England qualified centres available for selection?
Where he's going after this tournament is irrelevant. You pick your strongest side to win the competition you are in.

| The wasp site states" Moving from Rugby League's Leeds Rhinos in the forthcoming month of November, Lee Smith will find himself running out as part of the Black and Gold army for the new season. Having spent seven seasons with the Rhinos he will embark on a new set of challenges within Wasps and Rugby Union. " in November?

Let's not - were it not for the props I'd be reaching for the revolver.
Not sure whether playing without a hooker will be to our advantage or theirs though.

| We look pretty strong up front, but woefully inadequate in the three quarters. Not Smith's fault, I just think we have a horrible lack of centres and wingers of the right quality in this country at the moment. Senior has retired, and I think it's right not to pick him. Somebody needs to fill those shoes now, and it's hard to see who that's going to be.
