Definitely not for me either.
Would be interested though if it was Rowley that had come out of the blue.

| Whilst I wouldn't be surprised if Agar got the gig for next year, if we can't get a top coach I have a couple of issues with him.
Firstly the lightweight bench is dumb. As dumb as BM not using a sub.
Second, whilst he's not alone in this as a coach, I think he's overly conservative. Against Hull he had a golden chance to give McClelland a game, and its noticeable that he's not picked our two youngest forwards in Oledzki and Smith.
Next year has to be about bringing kids on. If he's the coach he needs to man up and drop senior players who aren't delivering, not double down on them for game after game.

I think you're right but you can understand why he might play conservative selections given the position the club's in.
Having said that I would have had more of McLelland, Oledski and Smith over the last weeks.
So maybe without that kind of pressure Agar would give the lads more of a shout. Then again at Leeds, when is there ever no pressure?
To be fair he's also continued with Newman despite some errors. This is probably because he flat out doesn't have better options at right centre though.

| I can live without Cam Smith in the team right now - he's had his opportunities and never really looked like taking them, despite putting in a decent effort in some games. Oledski probably deserves more game time after a bit of a rest, as does McLelland in the right circumstances.
I'm more worried by Agar's tactical naivety against Saints, for all the praise he's been getting in the media. The tactics were appalling. If we'd tried to play a more controlled and direct game we would have gifted Saints far less possession and position and would have stood a chance of coming away with the two points.

It's hard to say. In the first half I thought our second phase was killing them and we looked the better side for spells.
The problem is we don't quite have the quality across the park to maintain that style, we've been making errors all year and some resurfaced.
We had a good crack at them I thought. Where I would agree is that we got a bit lazy in the tough stuff at times.
We tried to play positive at them but the cracks showed a bit against quality opposition.
Have to say whatever Holbrook got into them at half time clearly worked.

| To be fair to Agar, it dosnt sound like he sent them out with the instructions to play like we did, he seemed furious with the Cuthbertson offload at the start of the second half. Both Agar and Hurrell have said we played the exact opposite of what they talked about.

| Yes I agree. I'll stick up for Agar here. The poor execution was the players not the coach. Agar was furious after the game.

| Surely ian watson has to be worth a punt? Wouldn't cost the earth and has consistently done well despite no resources and losing his best players every year. I'd take him at Hull if pearson made a change

Appreciate you don't want to name the coach that's fair enough.
Where I struggle with this is it sounds totally reactive. Leeds should not be waiting for the odd call and chat with an interested coach.
This is not some complicated business choice. There are a limited number of options and between KS and GH they could probably rule out 70% of the possible choices in an hour.
After Furner was sacked KS restated that the "model" of the original agar role, KS role and head coach was right for Leeds. That model was in place for a handful of games and we now still have the agar role empty, a temporary head coach and part time, temporary assistant coach in place.
I think Agar has done a decent job improving the defence and generally attack as well.
Of course, I know nothing and they may have some new coach up their sleeve for 2020 but the goal should be simple get the best man possible.
If we are just Giving it to agar because he is a good guy and we are possibly scared of making another mistake is folly.

| Whatever we decide to do, it needs to be the right calibre of appointment. There’s little point changing Agar for just another coach with different strengths and weaknesses.
It sounds to me like there will be less change next year than I personally would like to see, and in effect we’ll be giving it up as another development year.
A few more contracts end next year which will prompt new signings but maybe they do want to give the youth a shot too. With another off season there are a number of 19s who could make an impact.

| Too much is made of coaches' win ratios etc, but Brown has been at an NRL club nearly four years now and not torn up any trees from what I can see.
Probably an upgrade on what we have though, if he'd return to the UK, and I guess he'll be in the mix somewhere behind the scenes.

| Brown got a glowing report from the Knights hierarchy: admittedly after being sacked.
Gave him a lot of credit for laying foundations and developing the youth players really well... maybe not a daft fit for Leeds?
I always thought he was a bit whiney at pressers when he was at Saints to be honest.

| He did a good job for a while but had a good roster this year which has been a huge disappointment. I actually wouldn't be that surprised if he ends up back at st George. Paul McGregor has been there years and they're still terrible.
