| RS should walk after that but I can't see it.
We will get the usual blurb about how we were in it, score didn't reflect effort blah blah and crawl on to the next game.

Jim, Jim, Jim - we were not well in the game after 35mins. We were completely outplayed in evert facet from about minute 10. The scoreboard just caught up (very quickly) in the 2nd half. There is no mystery about this. It happens every week.

| There’s a world of difference being in the game and the scoreboard not having blown out yet. It was obvious after about 10-15 minutes that we wouldn’t be able to stay with them if they stepped up even a little. This team, this culture, this coach, needs changing.

| I think if change happens it’s not just the coaching that needs a shake up.
Lets look at wigan, Radlinski is CEO (or something similar) i think it’s a real shame that Sinfield decided that a job upstairs wasn’t for him, i think we may need some younger management to be honest.
We do have some good players coming through and the squad is not as bad as that performance tonight.

That right side wing position is cursed!

Agree on that. It has to be something systemic rather than just a sacking of the coach. Trend-wise it's been going south for nearly a decade now (some might say longer than that) and it needs a radical overhaul.

| Remember when we had a decent team, and we used to see Leeds quite regularly have a narrow lead or even be behind against bad teams, only to run away at the end with a lot of points? That's us in reverse now.

If (or its more likely when) Smith goes that's 4 coaches sacked in 6 years.
That seems tgeres a more deep-rooted problem to me.

Sort of, but is it bad choices or is the set up they are coaching in also a problem. A bit like Hull FC.

| If we get a new coach in they have to be someone whose primary objective is to get us back to the top, with junior development the only other thing that matters. They have to be given free reign to be utterly ruthless when it comes to staff and players, as it feels like the club is more interested in being cuddly and having a pleasant atmosphere producing 'good human beings' and looking after former players rather than a sporting entity whose purpose is trying to win competitions.
Smith said the performance in the second half wasn't good enough, and when pushed admitted there wasn't anything positive to take from it. I think though that the bigger problem in some ways was the first half, because while we were close on the scoreboard we were really miles off, and the players seemed to know it. We're fast getting back to Agar-ville where the players have no confidence at all in what's happening.

I dont think the set up is wrong we have the best facilities but i dont think we've had a top coach in the mould of Murray or Tony Smith.McDermott was our most successful but he had the best pool of players this club has probably ever had.I remember Sinfield saying he rated McDermott a 7 out of ten not really excelling in any of the coaching duties.Who ever the next coach is not only does he need to be very good he'll also need to do some surgery on this squad as far too many are not up to it.The pack is where it should start too many small backrowers and we need more grunt up front.

Smith has to be fair been given free reign you can’t say he hasn’t been ruthless in getting rid of players we've had a huge turnover since he came in.

As above Smith has done huge amounts of surgery to the squad, and it is difficult to replace a full squad in the time he’s had.
I personally don’t think the squad is too far off, we are however desperate for some hard running forwards.

| We haven't got the best squad in the league, but they are far better than they have shown under Smith. I would like to see what a decent coach could do with this squad, because Smith is the main problem, not the players.
For the live of god, go.

| I e been quite disappointed in Cam Smith aswell recently, he’s the captain and at no point am i seeing him act like one lately.
Ash is acting more like the captain during the games when players need guidance or a rollocking/kick up the .

yeah for however much people like to say he's at least trying to make a difference. bloke wants rugby league to be played in the art it is. just need someone who accepts that the English game is a rife with holding on and refs giving into crowd pressure.
I can honesty say leeds where bad but there was so much stuff let on with, just feels like a lost cause

I’m not a fan of the personal abuse he’s getting, wether you want him gone or not.
Ive said for a long time Im not sure he’s suited to coaching in SL.
He was doing great things in the QL cup and was gaining a lot of respect, he’d have probably been better staying in Aus

| Christopher - he's been ruthless with the roster off season, but I'm talking about week to week as well. If players make terrible mistakes multiple times they need to be given a kick up the bum. That might mean taking them off during a game, bollocking them in training, or dropping them for the next game. I also don't see anyone in the team who is letting other players have it both barrels when they screw up badly. We barely see any reaction at all now.
Yet again we've had a two week break only to come back and play terribly. No response other than capitulation. I'm really not sure how its defensible to not make a change at some stage, though I understand the logic of not wanting to change a coach mid-season. Even the dreaded 'caretaker' approach might help if it wakes players up as well. So long as whoever gets the gig is told in no uncertain terms that they will NOT be coach next year I could live with it if the focus is then on getting the right man in for next year.

Read my post above RE cam Smith, i agree that no one is taking a hold of the team, bar maybe Ash.

| There is a clear lack of leadership throughout the club at all levels from Hetherington downwards. As good as the CEO has been hes not in touch with todays game and to be fair to Smith he was lumbered with a team of back up coaches that were not his own people. Notwithstanding that other than cleansing the squad he has done nothing in the last 18 months personally to convince that he is going to improve performance. This season has to be written off and start planning for next year. The new coach should be allowed to bring a full coaching team with them and let's see if our playing roster is as good as some think as we have minimal scope in our salary cap.
We badly need some leaders in our team and this should be a consideration with our recruitment.
