| Quote ="Joshheff90"Great. If that’s the case I agree with you. I didn’t realise there were 30 coaches applying for the job.
But essentially We agree on the same thing, we both don’t think agar is up to it. We just have different view on time scales. If like you say there are 30 coaches that have applied then yes let’s make a move, there must be the right man in there. All I was saying was, this appointment is massive and needs to be the right one.'"
I genuinely do not believe for one second that the club think Agar is right to take them forward, or Agar himself for that matter. I think it is all about money. He was already employed, and they have utilised that cost to save on additional coach cost. The playing rosta, taking up more cash than probably originally thought. They are now risking the future on the basis of money IMO, not because they see the appointment as a success.

| Yeah I can buy into that.
Originally I thought agar wouldn’t want the job, a coaches job doesn’t always last long in this era, however his original role at the club could be security for him for years, why would he want to give that up

| I dont think you could be further from the truth there Gotcha. In the clubs opinion Agar is a very good coach.
The club arent actively looking at the moment for a coach. An opportunity came up to speak to someone 2 week ago and Sinfield had a very informal chat with that person who expressed he really wants the job, but this came out of the blue and wasnt from an approach by Leeds.
Sinny has stated for months now that it will be reviewed at the end of the season and is therefore very non-committal at this stage. Super League survival has been the priority and rightly so.
Its Agars job to lose as it has been from the start in my opinion. As I said the club believe he is a good coach. If the club think he will be accepted by the fans I believe he will get the job full time but that is the concern for the powers that be.
Agar has asked for no distractions and that is how it is.
From what I have been told the only 2 options being looked at right now are the 2 I've mentioned but it will all be reviewed at the end of the season.

Agar came to the club for a specific role - who is now undertaking that role given he is now heading up the coaching?

In truth Sal, and in fairness to Agar, he still attends most of the 19s and 16s games home and away as he did previously so I presume he is doing that role also. However I dont know that for certain.

| This stuff "all about the money" is incredible BS. Leeds have shown themselves willing to spend huge amounts of cash this season and will again for the right coach.
However if, as the club believes, this is a multi-year turnaround project, you need a club-building coach, not a top of the league coach. A Brian McClennan-type coach would be a disaster in this scenario whereas an Agar-style coach may be the right pick for a couple of years.

There is a huge difference between having an high opinion of him, and him been right to take us forward. He was brought in specifically to do a job, because of that high opinion, and they were right on it. That job he should continue to do. To be the head coach though and take us forward requires far more, and he is not right for that, they would be completely wrong to go there.
These people running this are not stupid. They are simply taking risks, because of the money tied up on the playing rosta, and saving it on the coaching. I don’t believe for one second they are truely doing that from choice.
He won’t be accepted anyway by fans, so if you were correct, they are gambling anyway.

By what standard are they suggesting Agar is a good coach - against other British coaches e.g. Watson, Chester or against Holbrook who schooled him once again on Thursday.

If results improve he'll be accepted.Ive said before unless we can get a Grade A coach it's too risky to swap like for like.I disagree about saving money I think the club would move for a coach if they feel that's the right thing to do.At the end of the day we are outsiders looking in and have no idea what goes on the coaching side and day to day of running the club.A month ago I was speaking to an ex player coached by Agar and he couldn't speak high enough of him.

Correct. The same people saying they are or will skimp on the coaching budget are the same people who claimed the club would or was skimping on the playing budget.

And I maintain what I put. He is doing the job he came for, and now other roles because we are not filling them. For me the club are spending the budget on the playing rosta which is costing a lot more. And why I feel they are not filling that number one coach role.
