| Very pleased with Moons performance ,early days but it looks like we have a centre who can pass the ball.
And what about Peacocks performance the man is ageless.

| Quote ="craigizzard"Would agree with all that. Sinfield MoM imo. Ablett was also very good wide left before Vickery's injury and over the season can see Ablett/Moon/Hall having the sort of joy that Lauititi/Senior/Bai once did.
McShane was very good at the simple things, giving us a bit more zip and freeing up Burrow a bit when he came on at 6-6, after which we became more clinical. Achurch and Kirke went under the radar a bit, but couldn't say anyone had a bad game.
Only disappointment was a lack of ball for Watkins (even when he was at centre) and Hardaker, but all in all a very engouraging start.'"
Yeah i liked the look of Ablett playing next to Moon, shame about having to switch him. No coincidence that Hull's only score came straight after we had to re-jig things.
Again i don't think it's a coincidence that we started to look more organised in attack and starting scoring when McShane came on, he like Lunt won't offer you something edge of your seat like Burrow but just gives us that more traditional presence at 9.
Watkins side not seeing much ball might also be to do with Hull's line-up, they had the experienced partnership of Yeaman/Briscoe on that side whilst Moon/Hall were up against the new young partnership of Arundel/Crookes.

Pretty much agree with all you've said. Poor old Ablett...forever destined to never play in his LF position: just as well he does make a pretty good centre too. Moon looks the business and hopefully will gain a more telepathic understanding with Hall. Watkins needs to see more of the ball in future games I hope....and I agree about McShane. Peacock was superb ably supported by the rest of the pack, Sinfield and McGuire were ever dangerous (McGuire's kicking game has improved so much it's a joy to watch) and Burrow's jinking around elusive jack in the box style again paid dividends with yet another try.
Best of all defensively the team looked far more cohesive and watertight

| Obviously a good performance but the player who has surprised me most was Clarkson. He really looks like he's bulked up and does still have a bit of pace. Has started to run some great lines and looked really effective, like JJB in his pomp. Kind of written him off after the last 2 seasons as a solid defensive player who offered little to nothing in attack, but on the back of that and the Bradford performance he looks to be a very handy player to bring off the bench.

| Quote ="Andy Gilder"I keep hearing about how much we "flogged" Peacock last year and how this is going to have a detrimental effect on his performances.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in September and October last year he didn't look like a prop that had been "flogged" for the preceding 7-8 months,
Jamie Peacock can give you 60-70 minutes of solid impact, 32 weeks a year that will get you by at domestic level.
And Bloodbath, given League Freak's usual MO, that's just as likely to be a dig at FC fans as it is Leeds

| Peacock will have benefitted from a full off-season and pre-season now that he has given the International game away - and on the basis of that high quality performance it showed.
I still hope Leeds afford him a few breathers through the year allowing that quality to be maintained for as long as possible - not forgetting he's contracted until the end of the 2014 season. Having had to wait for the final league game of last year to open his try account he's got the prospect of the naked run out of the way nice and early this year.
__________
Good also to see Ryan Hall given a role away from the wing at times allowing him to highlight is smart offload game.

| Cracking performance. Slight concern about Achurch - who doesn't look match fit to me - but that was more than compensated for by the steel of Peacock, Ablett, Bailey and Clarkson. McShane seems to inspire confidence in those around him, which is great.

Clarkson stood out last night. JJJb was nothing more than a body on the park.
Ablett was fantastic and for me MOM. Sinfield controlled things superbly, and DM really turned back the years with some great probing of the line.
The defence looked really good last night as a unit. I actually thought Watkins really stood out in that defence when at centre, looking really strong.
Moon as I thought he would be, looks an extremely good signing.
I don't think Hull were anything close to the 50 minute score line. They were kept in it from Ganson for me.
Ganson needs speaking to for that clear discrimination in that first half with Bailey. Those two penalisations were ridiculous, when you had at least another 50 same type in the game that went unpunished.

| Not really a bad performance from anyone in a Leeds shirt.
Moon looked impressive, JP was the best forward on the pitch, Mags was looking sharp and Watkins just gets better each game he plays.
Hardaker, JJB and Delaney flew under the radar a little but it was good to see Hall come in, looking for work.
Would have liked to see Ellis play, don’t think he’d have made 30 points difference but it might have been a slightly different game with him on the pitch.
Sinny deserved his MoM.
Ganson looked dandy in his effeminate chessboard shirt but still seemed to blow up for some odd reasons (will have to watch the game back to find out why).
Oh… and how big did Pitts look? He was never that size when he was with us.

| Most satisfactory work out for the WCC. Had to work hard against good strong defence in 1st half and in 2nd half gave the ball more air in attack with some nice offloads.
Key men Sinny, Mags, JP and Burrow all looked sharp with IMO Burrow just edging MOM.
Great organisation in defence and some good work from all the new boys with Moon's class in the centre.
Well done to Brian Mac and the coaches for some good preseason training.

| Quote ="rhinoms"JC-So by your reckoning his form never dropped then??
Well he looked way off against Wire (a) ST's(a) Wigan (h+a) ordinary at best against the likes of Wakey away ,Giants away etc etc.
The figures and stats dont show how he and our pack got battered at times last year and showed their age whether he thrives on 60mins+ a game last year showed he couldn't maintain it and the actual game footage shows that not numbers.
You can be good across the board in numbers but actual perfiormances are what count stats are a guideline not the be all and end all.
I stick by my opinion and the opinion of what i saw live at games last year we wont get away with it this year especially as both he and Kylie are 1 year closer to retirement and the brutal roles they play insists they cant go on forever.
Pre-planning prevents p!$$ poor performance and imo we should start the process to prepare for the loss of the 2 now.'"
I believe I already said JP had a bit of a wobble when not fully fit but that apart had a superb season.
We were discussing JP's form not whether our pack "got battered at times" You don't like stats when they prove your judgement to be wrong. What they show is that JP did maintain his performances as 694 tackles, 2819 metres gained, 438 carries and 55 offloads clearly shows. You cannot just dismiss the reality of this because it goes against your point.
JP's great form and the end of the season and after the above huge effort during the season is totally at odds with your judgement that "flogging" him has a detrimental effect on his form.
Perhaps a visit to Specsavers before your next live game will improve your 'views'.

| thought your lads played well last night n your line speed was very fast. the scoreline flattered you in the end after we collapsed with 20mins to go (which was very dissapointing).
you are the template super league teams should follow. you gave youth a chance years ago and the backbone of your team has an understanding of each others game that only time can give you.
i hate losing to you n despise cheap shot bailey, but good luck in the wcc

Very benevolent of you. For the good of the game I do hope the likes of Hull (and Salford) can break into the top 4 over the next couple of seasons ...not at Leeds' expense though
Bailey does his job very very effectively, much to the chagrin of opposition supporters

The recent Golden Boot award would suggest differently.
If not the best he's certainly the most influential. Leads his team round the park, scores crucial tries & kicks crucial goals.

You said the best player, not the most skillful, but I would still argue that Sinfield is more skillful than Tomkins or any of those you mention above. What some of those have is outstanding ability in specific areas. Brough's in play kicking, Tomkins as an elusive runner, Cronk erm not sure how good he would be in an ordinary side - Cameron Smith would be a better candidate in my view. Slater another outstanding broken field runner but like Tomkins vulnerable under the high ball.
In addition Sinfield's oustanding captaincy & innate decency as a man puts him head & shoulders above all those you mention.
In time Tomkins may be the all round best player in Superleague, would I have him at Leeds, you bet I would.
Let's see him do it over a decade too then he'll stand comparison with Sinfield.

| outstanding captain with a nucleus of players he grew up with as a team, and who consequently know each others games inside out, assists his abilities to lead and play.
could he be dropped into any half decent team in the world and have the same impact.?
like i said i think hes outstanding and wish hed come through hulls ranks and played for us
its the nucleus of your team growing up together and additions through the ranks that gives you your strength.
im just glad roby n tomkins didnt come through your ranks as well.
