Nobody has done that. However, you seem to be going out of your way to make excuses for Widnes's opposition. Mighty Widnes rolling over Superleague whipping boy rabble? Hardly.

Yeah, not like he'll ever win a World Club Challenge or anything.

Depends what future GH sees for McDermott I'd suggest.
If McDermott stays than I'd expect Lunt to stay. Hardly worth McShane returning if he's not going to get selected.

If? I can't believe it still gets debated. I'd be stunned if Hetherington were to let McDermott go.

| I've nothing against Lunt but I fail to see what he brings to the table that McShane can't. Glad McShane's got his head down though and working hard at Widnes.

| You saying he's already signed GMC?
If so i wish Macca all the best and i personally think we've dropped a clanger i like Lunt but Mcshane offers more imo but on the positive side given Lunt is 25/26 there could be time for Teasdale to improve and come through with Hood.

| As most have said despite being a good solid pro cant see what Lunt brings to the team that McShane could not quality wise.
He is now gaining good experience and getting plenty of game time at super league level.I wonder if, with him being on such a long deal, we could loan him out again for next season with the option of him returning for 2014.
Wouldnt want to see us get rid of this lad just yet as i have a sneaky feeling he could be another to bite us in the ass down the line!!

You do realise that you play the same teams as us through the season don't you?
McShane has been pretty much magnificent in all games since joining including Saints, Hudds and Wigan. I make it 6 games he's played in so covering nearly half the league!

I also realise there is a difference between what might look like a good player in a mediocre team and being good enough to play for a big club.

No, sorry. Nantwich was suggesting that McDermott's job might not be safe, whereas I can't see GH having any concerns about him whatsoever.
On the subject of Lunt, I have a feeling Anderson will want him back. He's quickly made a point of the need for discipline since he took over, Scott Moore you have been warned!

| To be fair to McShane he was hardly given a good solid run of games in the side and despite the fresh deal he got and being given the number 9 jersey the coaching team never really showed any real faith in the lad.
He is now getting that run of games for the first time and from what i have seen and heard he is starting to show his potential we all thought he had.you cant ask much more than that from him.

| Whilst I dispute that McShane offers as much as Lunt at this moment in time.
I do think he has been dealt unfairly and has not been given the opportunity to prove himself.
Saying all that if he is recalled for next season and plays then that has been good for all concerned.
For all we know Lunt might not want to stay with us next season or the Giants might not want to release him.
As far as McDermott staying or going.
I think anyone who has won the GF,WCC and got his team to Wembley twice hardly deserves sacking even if we have beed gash during the weekly games.
If on the other hand we want to play entertaining rugby week on week and win naf all year on year then yes he probably does deserve to be sacked.
Not sure how GH will balance the books though at the end of the year.

If McDermott stays? I'd imagine GH will be very grateful for a cup final appearance. Leneghan reckons Wigan's absence has cost them £250k so I'd imagine McD is very much flavour of the month.
As for Lunt, I think he'll depart and McShane will return.

That would depend largely on revenue exceeding costs. I'd expect entertaining winning rugby would be an easier sell than dour winning rugby.

| On the other side of things look at Huddersfield.
Play a low end game and will win -all as always.
But don't worry Fat Anderson's put his foot down so everything will be ok. His team respond by getting dicked by Wakie in second half.
Right club.

Which shows that the loaning out plan is a good idea. Good luck to McShane for taking advantage of it. Let us hope he can sustain this run of form.

Hence why TVOC I put entertaining and win naf all.
Of course I would love to see us entertain and win something.
But it does not always follow, ask St Helens.
In an ideal world that would be nice.
But if we continue to get to finals and dare I say win the odd one or two. That will keep GH happy and consequently it will keep McD in a job.
Rugby is a business (sadly) these days and if we aint getting to finals we aint going to have any cash to pay our players, ask Bradford Bulls

| Yes true TVOC. When you consider we are lucky go get anything near to a decent crowd until Wembley itself. Ig certainly pays to get to Wembley as we have done for a few years now.
Is there much difference cash wise between winning or losing?
When you win the GF at least you are going to make a few more pounds from a WCC appearance.
