This all sounds very fishy. Why would we go out of our way to secure him on a deal for 2017 only for us to then say we would be happy to speak to Huddersfield for a £45k fee when we haven't even seen him in Leeds colours and have no idea what difference he might make to the team?

If it's true then it all sounds very poorly handled.

Wherever Brierley goes there is drama, maybe Leeds have realised that after his release of confidential information at Leigh? Maybe Hetherington has had enough of the pantomime?

Brierley is training with Hudds at the minute.

If Brierley has a deal with Leeds for 2017 then it hasn't been agreed with the knowledge or permission of Leigh Centurions. So, seeing as it is still before the May deadline, either no such deal exists, or it is null and void anyway as it would be an illegal approach to a contracted player.

Still, it isn't like Brierley to leak different rumours left, right and centre

He was still under contract with Leigh till end of season and there was only an official approach from us. Us paying you £45k would be admission of an illegal approach would it not? Or would there be some pre contract agreement signed? Very odd.

The only way we can currently have a signed and sealed deal with Brierley is if Leigh allowed us permission to speak to him. Otherwise we'd have to wait til the deadline before any contract can be legitimate.

Does seem a bit strange all round really.

It needs to be wrapped up by whoever is signing him, it's getting boring. Sounds like people are throwing rumours around for the sake of it.

None of this makes a blind bit of sense. Hudds would just tell Leeds to love off!!!!

Who knows what it says in his contract? There will be allsorts of clauses written in it. Then throw into the mixer that agents leak stories and tell lies for their own good, then add that Derek Beaumont is a full weight Walter Mittey, and Brierley is stuck in the middle.

Yep. And while I am not particularly bother about signing breirley two things. He is either a pretty ty friend feeding frosties Bull stories, or he needs to be a bit more picky about his friends and not tell people who are going to post everything you tell them on forums and twitter

Sorry to add to this but, according to the Leigh owner, Huddersfield made LEIGH two offers for Brierley, after he, (the Leigh owner) had discussed with Paul Anderson and Keiron Purtill, what their intentions were. (Ryan had mentioned that Huddersfield and the two Hull clubs were interested in him)

The Leigh owner said that the Huddersfield coaching set up had discussed Ryan, for 2017, (after his current contract with LEIGH expires) as a full back. Our owner then spoke to yours, who made the two (rejected) offers.

All the above is available to watch/listen to on Leigh Centurions TV - and would suggest that Ryan is currently a contracted LEIGH player.

I don't think anyone is really saying that Brierley isn't currently a Leigh player. It's which club owns him after his Leigh contract ends.
As I said, if what Frosties has said is true, in that he's got a contract with Leeds for 2017 onwards then that can only have happened with Leighs permission. If not then there's no reason for Hudds to be contacting Leeds.
But there's also no reason for Hudds to be putting a bid in to Leigh for Brierley if they wanted him for 2017.

Add in his resignation and it's all a complete mess and there appears to be disinformation put about on both sides.

I would be disappointed in Leeds if we've signed him for 2017 and then said we don't want him. We shouldn't treat players like that. I suspect it may be more along the lines of offering him a choice. He'd get a guaranteed start at Hudds whereas he wouldn't at Leeds.

Or maybe GH has decided the media circus surrounding Brierley - not known when we "bought him" - isn't worth the hassle.

Or maybe- just maybe, it's all rubbish.
Leeds, Leigh, Hudds or Ryan himself have not made any public statements that agree with, suggest or even fit with Ryan being a Leeds player.
IMO the only way that can be true is if Leeds have been very naughty - If that's true then perhaps they should swap places with Bradfird

We're working on that. Whether the Bulls manage their part is open to question though.

It's hardly in the agents best interest to do a quiet deal when he could earn more putting him up to the highest bidder.

Will be glad when it's all over and he has signed for hudds. He certainly brings a lot of drama with him
