| Quote ="Juan Cornetto"Delaney is a repeat of McKenna who was also very average as a centre but became outstanding as a 2nd row. No credit to GF but credit to the coaches.'"
Yeah. McKenna did excel there and that position does play to Delaneys strengths with his obvious strong metre making carries and work rate in defence. But I would question the quality aspect. Anything in front of Delaney he will down every time. But he is caught out with plays that move off his centre point standing. Whereas McKenna was not only a tackling machine his execution and selection of tackling type was always on the money. whether it was a copy-book low tackle or wrapped up top. Any chance he got to go in hard with those big shoulders he would. An example of his mind-set of striving to make those high levels were clear after he was awarded the MOM aganist wigan at HQ where he scored 2 trys IIRC. Was he content? Nup. He was 'dirty' with himself for missing a couple of tackles that lead to Wigan scores. That level of dedication to his art-form you can't teach.

Chip on your shoulder much?
I never thought he would come to Leeds. Nothing has changed.

Does a game for NZ Maori count as "on the world stage" these days?
Big fish, small pond springs to mind.

Careful... any remotely negative comment about Rangi will result in the inevitable "Jealous much?" or "Sour Grapes?" comments from our Country Cousins.
Even if some of us have been saying for months, *cough* me *cough*, that we wouldn't want him anywhere near Leeds.
I agree though... "on the world stage" is ridiculous. Unless he single handedly won Castleford the World Club Challenge and I slept through it.

Correct. Classic Super League tosh... he's proved feck all on the world stage. He's a good player in SL but that's about it.

| No worse than some of the Headingley propaganda to be fair.
I'd have Chase at Leeds, although he has to prove next year that he can maintain his form. Good news for Cas though.

To be fair, I would agree that he's a better half than anything at Leeds.
He was also MOM against England and did you see the state of the Cas pack he was playing behind? All their decent props were injured, it was terrible.
Just because he plays at Cas doesn't stop him from being a class act any more than the likes of Ellis who stood out at Wakey.

| I'd have him at Leeds also. But i'm wary to go over the top about the lad. Form wise he's been far superior to any of our half backs and maybe i'd have him with us instead of Burrow...

I'd take an in form Maguire ,Burrow or Sinfield over the "over-hyped" Chase any day of the week and all 3 have proved it time and time again and just when the "Real Business" starts our pivots are stepping up to the plate.
All 3 have won big games for us single handed and in teams that have been decimated by injury.
I'll also add when i defended the loss of form of Burrow and mentioned how poor our pack at the time was it was said by many on here "great players perform no matter what" well it appears super-Rangi doesn't fit that category.
I think he's a very good player but World class??
I can see where a St's fan would rate him so highly having had to suffer years of trying to find the GF "Hide 'n' Seek" champ at 6.

| Chase, or anyone, with a reliable short-kicking game on the last tackle would improve our team no end. Either that or Sinfield/McGuire/Burrow/Webb being coached to do it better.

Think they all can produce a good short kicking game, however not consistently. Would have been a good addition to any squad but not a massive blow that he has stayed at cas
