Better than having no sense at all as many of your fellow fans have proven.

Out of the 9 stats that Richards 'won', you would expect a winger/fb to win, i.e meters made.

Really??
I think James Graham would probably have something to say about that, having been the top metre maker for the last 2 years.
He's a prop you know.
Mind you, you'd have thought you'd have mentioned how a stand off and prop would (obviously) make a lot more tackles, more kicks in general play, tackle busts and clean breaks? Well, 2 out of 4 of those were right, anyway.
Try again.

Search for "Terminator" on Google Images. See the similarity? It won a competition, and I always liked saying "Hasta la Fishsta, baby."

| The simple difference is this:
Richards is a finisher - so he needs good players around him to make use of his skills - Wigan still have the good players around him
McGuire is a playmaker - take him out and you don't have anyone to create
That is why McGuire is a bigger loss to Leeds than Richards is to Wigan - simple really

Disagree.
McGuire is primarily a finisher.
Sinfield is the main playmaker and creator, whether he's playing at 13 or 6.

McGuire does create but he's not in the same league as Sinfield who is the main playmaker.

We must simply agree to disagree - without McGuire last season Leeds would not have made the playoffs - a point Sinfield made at the end of the season.
It would be interesting to look at the assists for last year and the previous year and compare.
I respect your comment but I think you are talking bollox TBH - but nothing new there.

| 4-5 years ago, I'd have said McGuire created just as much as he finished... and he probably WAS the best stand-off in the competition. The season where he was JUST pipped by Vainikolo as top try scorer in particular, when Saints and Bradford fans panned McGuire, I stuck up for him.
He's nowhere near as effective as he was, and to be honest that's more as a finisher than a playmaker. It would be fair to say he's lost a lot of pace over the last year or two, which has been very detrimental to his performance.
Not to the point that he's not a good player, of course he is, but he's probably not even as good as Lee Briers now. And those of you who've panned Tomkins for being "niggly", you've clearly not been watching McGuire as closely as you make out, especially when you're losing.
Sinfield, though... seriously, I'd have him at Wigan in an instant. The man doesn't get the credit as a Rugby League player and ambassador for the sport that he deserves. I can't remember him ever getting sin-binned, never mind sent off, and he doesn't give away many penalties. His work rate often goes un-noticed by many as he doesn't hog the limelight.
Never going to be the greatest player ever, but one of the most consistent, and probably Leeds' most valuable.
One last point about McGuire, he may be listed as a half, but he spends a lot of time in defence on the wings...

No he doesn't.
Leeds half-backs defend second man in on either side. McGuire (Sinfield on Friday) defends between the right centre and right winger (Burrow similarly positioned on the left.) Leeds have done this for several years and it's a defensive pattern adopted elsewhere in SL also.
Fair enough not at Wigan who (under Maguire) appear to position their half-backs one man further in on either side defending between second-row and centre.

| That review of McGuire was completely a*se backwards - until last year I'd have said creativity wasn't his forte - although it could have been if he'd looked to pass first and run more directly. Last year at times he looked like a genuine stand off.

How many tries did he score last year? how many assists?
Will he ever be the player he was after such a serious injury only time will tell.

| Last year he scored 23, with 18 assists.
His best year was 2004 with 35 tries and a strike rate of 1.4 tries per game. Between 2007 & 2009 he scored 43 tries with a strike rate of 0.57 tries per game. His strike rate last year was only 0.88.
So no, he's not the same finisher he once was. Age and injuries do appear to have taken their toll.
I hope he does recover well from this injury. But obviously saves his bad performances for matches against Wigan.

Will somebody wake me up when this guy has left?
TIA
P.S. - Challenge; Have a go at a real, "like for like" comparison... add Kevin Sinfield's goal kicking stats to Ryan Hall's other stats, then see how a "Goal Kicking Ryan Hall" compares with Richards. Go on... I dare yah!!!!
