| For me it will be agar. A good rugby brain and offers the club a period of stability which it clearly needs . If we get ward we have failed again with the constant obsession thinking our old boys are the best people to get us out of this mess?? Until we get away from the constant jobs for the boys mentality we won’t ever improve .

| After three relegation fighting seasons ,we need a good off season and as soon as we are safe an announcement should be made about who will be coach . Then he can get on with working with the DOR who comes in and who stays .

| This is where Saints have the upper hand isn’t it; their coach leaves unexpectedly but they’re riding high with the best squad on the comp and safe as houses already for SL in 2020.

| I’m pretty sure a few players have their cards marked from this season and will be on their way. May take another 12 months to complete the job though.
The truth is that with Ava, Lui and Martin added (who are all starters) we look a better side.
It’s not realistic to expect the side that McDermott, Sinfield/Lowes and then Furner struggled with to suddenly turn into a swan with one “special” coach. Turning our fortunes around is a project which does include the coach, but there are many other factors too.
Agar/Carr is looking fruitful and we have some more recruitment to sort. My guess is that if the right person was to become available we would move: but otherwise we can run with what we have with some degree of confidence.
Add the 2–3 quality players we need and we should do OK next season, and maybe OK is good enough right now. Then again players’ careers are short and can we afford to plan another building year...?

| Getting those class players will be hard. Yes, there is some salary coming off the cap at the end of the season, but I think we'll have paid over the odds for the people we have brought in recently because of our position and desperation.
We may have been able to fit them all in this season if we've been able to register ablett and Crosby, as neither have played. If that's the case, if they leave it won't free up any cap space in real terms

| That's correct Eagle. I dont think Ablett will be around next year but Crosby's salary will have to go back on the cap.
We currently upto the cap limit also.
On that basis I dont see many changes this off season. Maybe 1 or 2 in at most.

| I can honestly see Ablett, JJB, Golding leaving for starters. Ferres, Donaldson still out of contract but wouldn’t be surprised if Donaldson ended up staying and Ferres rumoured to have signed back at Wakefield. We’ve got to have a squad around 40 players considering the reserves return next season, however a few of the under 19s will join that with that moving to under 18s.

| Theres room for 2 good signings. As above JJB Golding Ferres are going. Ferres is on a good salary he was an England player when he signed. Ablett will also go.
So theres plenty of cap space released there. A couple of youngsters promoted plus 2 good quality signings will do very nicely.

Cuthbo has been one of our better players for a few months now I don't think he will leave and will see out his contract

The club needs to have a conversation with Cuthbo. He's been way off form for quite some time now, and then suddenly is pulling out the kind of performances we saw when he first joined.
I suspect the reason is a combination of injuries clearing up, and some new direction from the coaching staff. On current form yes you might keep him until his contract runs out (which was too long again).
Peteru is probably the hindmost overseas player at the moment, but he had a bad injury and was in decent form before that.
What I wouldn't want Leeds to do is pull back from some of the tough calls that are needed, because the team seems to have collectively got its bum into gear.
Prop and a 7 for me still as a minimum for 2020, and both need to be very good players not squad fillers.

Some of the salary from Ferres, Golding, JJB etc will be going to existing players. We've recently signed long-term deals with Newman, Handley and Walker - those contracts will have salary increases budgeted in.

| Our cap has been horribly mismanaged if we're spending the same as sts and co, we're miles off the top few squads. That means some seriously average players are being horrendously overpaid. Particularly when you add the marquee allowance x 2.

| If we get the X3 marquee allowance it would help but it’s a short term fix. To be fair, we haven’t been lucky with form and injuries to some top-paid players for a number of years now. Our two England players both been knackered by injury - that’s not the club’s fault.
Having said that there has been plenty of recruitment that IS.

| Yes, but it also hasn't helped having to recruit from a point of weakness either for the past couple of years.
After 2016 our stock fell through the floor, 2017 we went with basically the 2016 squad to prove that 2016 was a blip and that GF win papered over the cracks, 2018 we started even further behind as even more of our strike players retired / moved on and the cracks became chasms, before you know it here we are in 2019 only now recruiting quality but having to overpay for players as we cant offer them the GF's , CC's and playoffs.

| Think the recruitment /retention has improved since Sinfield took over, theres a couple of bad decisions, but mostly the players he's brought in are going well. Think its huge for a team to make the most of its overseas / non fed players, all 7 should be first team regulars if your doing it right, Sinfields brought 5 in...Merrin, Hurrell, Ava, Lui, Martin... and theyr all proving to be important players for us...Martin and Ava look very astute signings especially.

Agreed, I also believe Sinfield wanted Martin for the start of this season but it didn't come off for whatever reason. I reckon with his goal kicking alone we would have won a few more matches.
