I could see why to Cas especially this year finishing top would mean a lot and be a vindication of how far they have come but in general. It would be interesting to hear what the Cas fans would value higher a first CC win at Wembley since 1986 or the LLS?'"
Wembley win all day. Grand Final first with LLS 3rd. Would be happy winning just 1 though it's been that long.

The point was, which is the better achievement, a big club like Leeds winning a cup from just a few games, where the majority were lower division, or a smaller club like Castleford finishing top of a league over 29 weeks of rugby. I despair at anyone who says the CC is the better acheivement of the two, complete nonsense.'"
If Cas are and have been spending the full salary cap, the sameas Leeds then I don't see where the difference between a "big" club and a "small" club come in.

And how many times has that worked out since the introduction of the salary cap? not a valid argument at all to what was raised anyway. Five games, with three against lower league oppossition, compared to 29 games all against Super League oppossition, that was the point of achivement.

True, but let's not forget that winning semi finals and finals requires lifting to a different level than what you see in the league weekly.

I might be in a minority but personally I would prefer us to win lls than get to Wembley (and I'm not just saying that after last weeks disappointment)
For me as a 40+ year cas fan I have never seen a team that's consistent enough to finish top of the league and might not again whereas any half decent team with a good draw can have their day in the sun as we have now and again.
So personally I value the lls very highly for us this year but I can see why for some clubs with a history of success might not value it as highly.
Tell you what you win the cup we win the lls shield then we will meet in the grand final as the decider

| Quote ="Gotcha"What have you understood is more apt?
How clear can the statements be? A big club playing five games with three against lower league oppossition, is not as good an achievement as a smaller club consistently performing to top the league after 29 rounds. What a club like Leeds back in 2015 have to do with that point I am unsure of. You appear be trying to argue another point, one that has been done to death many times, but one that is not relevent to what is said this time.'"
I understand Cas a a smaller club historically and we have more fans, but they currently have more internationals than us, and given we are paying some of Hardakers salary, they probably have a more expensive squad than us
So no I dont agree that Cas finishing top would mean more than a CC for us
If Salford won the CC and we won the GF, I could say that they had the better achievement given how long its been since they won a trophy, but not Cas with the LLS

But you don't always get as kind a draw as we did this time, that's why the cup is so fascinating. If Cas had beat Hull on Sunday and then met us they would have likely had to go Saints -Hull - Leeds - Wigan to win the CC at Wembley for the first time in over 30 years...what an epic result that would be, a story fans would be telling for generations... the LLS shield winners are forgotten by October of the same year!
Like i say, it would mean a little more than usual to Cas for obvious reasons, but in the grand scheme of things it sits a long way behind a GF or CC victory no matter how you win them.

But won't have won the league. Will have won pole position on the ladder and a home tie in the play offs. You win the league at OT.

You've spent all this time telling us what a great achievement it would be for Cas to win the LLS but then made a mess of it by saying how poor their nearest challengers including a team who just dumped them out of the cup. You might think Hull are poor but no other team has picked up more league wins and points in the last 18 months. If the team who can do that is so poor then why should we be crowning Cas' potential LLS as something good?
You've shat all over your own argument.

Its not winning the league though, the SL winners and champions are recognised by all clubs to be the GF winners.
Cas have never been champions under any system iirc, so surely winning the GF and the title is the main aim
The only reason finishing top is significant for Fev is that they did so between 1974 and 1997, when the league leaders were declared champions, if Cas won the LLS the Fev fans would still point out they had never won the title and they had.
