| theres no doubt wigan pushed the limits last night, especially at the PTB. they slowed it down to a crawl.
however in any sport players push the referee and if he is going to be weak and let things go then players will take advantage. no problem with wigan in doing this, they simply exploited it better than we did

| Obviously I've not seen any of the game yet and come on here to get a relatively fair fans report on the game all these Wigan fans weren't posting on here a few weeks ago except Rogues who always comes on whatever. I respect Rogues opinion once you get past is humour so I will wait for him. However it does appear that the Burley road Oaf does have an agenda against his home City club.

| Can we please stop using the word "thuggery" for some niggle and needle. It's embarassing.
Wigan did indeed have a plan to slow the ruck down. The success of that plan is to quickly get a feel for where the ref's limits are and then try to get as close to that as you can at every PTB thereafter. That's exactly what Wigan did. Is it frustrating? Of course it is. That's the idea. Nowt wrong with it though. Wigan lacked some of their key attacking players and were never going to win a fast flowing, open game. So Wane stopped it being one and made it about collisions, contact and enthusiasm. They won that battle to dictate the pace, then once they had the game they wanted, they won it.
Well done to them. There are lots of ways to win a game.

You are posting with one eye closed - McGuire's kick out is normal in the game - it happens in every game hardly foul play especially when compared to Dudson, McIlorum and Crosby. Perhaps your view of could play only extends to one individual?

| Quote ="tenerifeRhino"They played exactly the same two weeks ago against us yet we managed to still outplay them, although they upped the thuggery yesterday to grab the win
constant Holding down at the PTB (which again wasn't penalised until 30 mins had gone)
Third man always smashing in to torso of the ball handler
Holding down with the forearm pressed into ball handlers face on multiple occasion.( only penalised once)
and just 80 mins on niggling gamesmanship from them and expected no less from them yesterday.
Its obviously premeditated tactics, which I wouldn't be proud of if I was a wigan fan'"
Interesting how you only notice 'offences' from the opposition, isn't it? (you do realise the second you posted isn't even an offence, don't you?) Didn't you not notice When Bailey lead with his elbow or McGuire kicked out at the PTB or that it was the Leeds players who were 'running in', even for a straight forward offence like the JP high shot for example? It wasn't even a particularly notable penalty...just the sort of thing that happens EVERY game.
You do realise that the tempo of the ruck is dictated by the referee and not yourself, don't you? Just because you don't like it when your team's ruck is slowed down doesn't make it an offense. I could understand it if Leeds were getting consistently penalised for holding down when Wigan weren't but that simply wasn't the case. Both teams got penalised when they overstepped the mark.
You need to take a leaf out of your coach's book (or posters like El Diablo for that matter) and accept that you were out thought, out played and out enthused yesterday. Not by much, but enough to get the win. To moan about the referee makes you look like a poor loser; unless that's what you are, of course, in which case...carry on!
Oh! And for the record, we're VERY proud Wigan fans today. Not because of the win, which in the scheme of things is no more or less important than the one 2 weeks ago, but by the fact that with over a dozen players missing including half our first choice 17 we were able to put in such a strong and committed performance.

There's only you trying to excuse foul play because it was one of your players, and you're accusing others of being one eyed!
If McIlorum had kicked a Leeds player you'd be petitioning parliament to bring back the death penalty.

I believe there is a difference between trying to scramble up to play the ball quick and kicking an opposing player. In my opinion there was intent on McGuires part to kick Williams, clearly you disagree which you have the right to.
As I said in my previous post, there WAS foul play by some of the Wigan players, which I'm not defending.

| He didn't kick at the player though did he? The player had hold of his feet in the air, and he kicked out of the hold. Yes he may have caught the player, but that was a consequence of the holding, rather than the intention of McGuire.

Yes, in the same way that Micky Mac's high tackle was a consequence of Peacock head butting his arm

But you called McGuire a house based on his kick out - I am saying what he did was not as bad as what McIlorum did and certainly nowhere near as dangerous as Crosby's attempt at Hall. Yet both McIlorum and Crosby escape your tedious name calling?

Not at all - as I said I have not called any Wigan player a house when some of the foul play from the Wigan players was far worse than anything McGuire did.

| Wigan fans still waffling on about Mcguire kicking out, something that Sam Tomkins did 5-6 times a game while wearing a Wigan shirt and something that happens at every club, in every game, every week, every year as some kind of justification for their ****bag coach's tactics last night
Probably the same fans who wanted Danny Mcguire's head on a plate not so long ago for pulling a player's shirt.

Please quote me on calling McGuire a house, my first post was just pointing out that you were excusing Mcguire of any wrong doing. At no point was I "name calling".

Wigan fans still waffling on about something that happened last night.
Leeds fans still waffling on about something that happened seasons ago involving a player that doesn't even play for us anymore.

if you were refering to any of my earlier posts I certainly wasnt having a pop at the coach. If anything I would say its a credit to wane how he took advantage of the situation to the max.'"
BJB was one of several for Leeds that were ineffective but why pick him out before others? He was selected on merit having played well in previous games and has a high try to game ratio. He was not at fault for any of their tries and was given no opportunities on attack. You may recall Briscoe in his last game made some errors including a bad defensive one which let in a try. I favour picking the man in form and while at Leeds that should include BJB. No doubt Briscoe will be back against Hull.
Wigan's enthusiastic defence snuffed out Sutcliffe for all the game and Hardaker and Hall for most of the game so BJB was in good company. He did make a good supporting run which could have won us the game had McGuire passed to him.

Not so much saying he's at fault for anything or the lost. But using his good performances against weaker teams was always a false dawn. A hat trick against London in pre season which so many loved should've been put into context.of the opposition.

I picked him out because it appears to me in recent games that the wingers are on a rotation to keep everyone happy.I may be wrong about this, just how I see it and I believe BJB is not on the level of Hall and Briscoe, so now we know he is leaving we should be able, for the most part to leave him in reserve to cover injuries.just my opinion of course.
for the record I think BJB is a fantastic utility back in his own right and is a great player for us to still be able to call upon should injuries occur.my opinions on him have remained the same, leaving us or not he is clearly 3rd best winger and the 2nd best full back at the club.
