listen mate i have worked at the club previously for a number of years.....I know exactly how Gary dictates money matters, and I also know he does not pick the team, and he has agreed to Moore coming simply because he is cheap end of.....and if you really think Gary has called mcdermott into his office to tell him that he has signed Moore and that mcdermott said ' great Boss' then you are a fool.

Because after next year we will lose Kylie, and maybe Peacock, which would leave us with a forward rotation of Kirke, Bailey, Amor, Singleton and Ambler, which when you think about it is a 2nd rower, a kid nowhere near ready to be a frontline prop, and unproven 21 year old, and Kyle Amor who lets be honest has had a good, but not outstanding 1 year in SL along with Bailey.
Moore is cheap, and will do a job, he is experienced and will give us continuity.

If this is the sum total of our recruitment, then I would be very disappointed. As a signing in isolation, I cant complain, he will make a decent squad member.

I dont agree. We are likely to bring in 2 or 3 front line squad members for next year(and i dont count Moore in that). I wouldnt want to change much more. I think Webb certainly has a year left in him and Kylie can still give impact with more of the load taken off him (something squad members like Moore can do) and Kirke has had a decent career with us.

I'm sure Bigjake can speak for himself, but you seem easily pleased. Good luck in supporting medocrity. You can expect lots of it at Leeds in 2012.

:137cjfgvDont blame Kirke for that. Two years ago the commonly accepted wisdom was that it wasnt just Mcguire and Sinfield and Peacock who were responsible for our success, it was the likes of Kylie, Kirke, and Ablett who whilst they got lower wages put their hand up every week and did a
job. Kirke is what he is, There is a job for him to do and a job he has spent a good few years at Leeds doing.
Not at all, i think it is you who is looking short term. We need space in our squad to help blood this very very talented group of youngsters we have. I think we have Ian Kirkes replacement within the squad. Jay Pitts. I want to see Kirke get fewer games over the next two years as Pitts gets more. We dont need to go out and replace Kirke because that will mean less space for Pitts. Over the next two/three years i want to see Singleton, Ward, Hood, Casey, Hardaker, Ambler et al move into the first team, they will do that by winding up as players like Sinfield, JP, Kylie, Moore, Senior, Buderus wind down. We have decent succession planning in place, this is a fantastic thing for the club to do, over the next 2/3 years we will see 2/3 players replaced, and where we cant bring players through we will bring them in. Kylie and Moore and replacing Cross and Burgess not Ambler and Singleton.

If we can bring in a quality centre like Pomeroy and a good second rower to replace Ali im confident that with our youngsters coming through we are well placed to challenge next year and the years after.

You got a 30 year old journeyman, with previous health problems. A player that's been around the block at average, mediocre teams and never really looked anything more than a squad player at a low income low graded club.

I'm sorry if this sounds disrespectful to moore but we might as well have just signed no one and used the academy.

He had a fair game against at HQ this year. Plenty of grunt and got a fair bit of ball away in the tackle. Let's see how he goes then make a judgement.

If Moore is a replacement for Burgess (who was always leaving at the end of the year anyway) check out the stat comparison on the SL website...

Moore has missed 40 tackles to Burgess 13, Moore has made 10 errors to Burgess 3, Moore has conceded 2 penalties to Burgess 5. Some replacement...

Does it really matter?

Replacing Burgess with Moore isn't going to alter the fact that at least 8 out of 14 SL teams are utter sh[iy[/ite, therefore it's impossible for Leeds to finish any lower than 6th next season, even with McDermott as coach.

I've thought long and hard about this all day...I didn't want to post a reaction that wasn't thought through properly...


...but after all that I think this is the most uninspiring signing I can remember other than the return of Gary Mercer. I see few positives to take from signing a 30 year old journey man who in the 10+ years since he left Leeds has shown sporadic patches of good form and little else.

I hope I'm proved wrong, and I also hope there are at least 2 bigger signings to come.
