None of the forwards gave Leeds much oomph except for Eastwood for a spell. More worrying for me than Bailey was Leuluai. He has been our best starting prop for the past few seasons alongside Peacock, but was awful in the semi against Sts and completely anonymous in the final. Given the shortness of his spells, he needs to have a massive impact when on, or quite simply not get picked.

Leuluai's stats in the previous two SL games suggested he was gearing up to a big effort for the final, just didn't materialise. Has the feeling of past his sell-by-date though. Let's see how the pack fares in the play-offs before making such judgements.

You were the one who said about 3rd man in. There is no stats for this ever, and IMO is a complete myth. But as you are so sure it happens, you must therefore be able to answer the question.

Well duh, no, thats why I asked the question. Why would I ask a question if I already knew the answer? I just think its strange that someone commented that he made 29 tackles, when in reality, the only time I noticed him was when he ran away from Carvell and when he cheap shotted Riley.

Ok then, he made 29 one on one tackles with no misses. Prove it wrong.

Wouldn't have a clue about the actual stats but I need notice a number of occasions on Saturday where he was 3rd in or barely got involved

I observed at least 5 tackles as "third man in" having come from the full back position. I reckon he did about 4 one on one tackles near his own try line, one of them involving a "head butt simulation".
Its not hard too have "no miss tackles" when yours mates are in there first doing all the work. Not sure if the swinging arm on Riley at the end was counted as a tackle though.

Factor in his failure to score in the first 4 minutes and it wasn't a good day for the prodigal son mr bailey.

Never has a player offered so little, yet recieved so many plaudits.

Don't think Ryan has scored a try for about 3 years if I remember rightly.

He's a prop so that's not his job.

But any player will be expected to convert into tries when they get the opportunity bailey did.

He's a prop so his job is to put in the hard yards. But he doesn't do much of that either.

He does apparently ''wind the opposition up'' though.

He has one of the lowest stats for a prop forward in Superleague for "offloads" as well, so he's not much good in that department either. He's got 3 grand final rings though for very little effort.

The problems start when people don't like having their opinion challenged - thats insecurity.

You only have to look at our left centre to see the importance of helping out your team mates in a tackle, wether that is 3rd man or 5th man.

Would I rather have Ryan Bailey making 29 tackles as 3rd man with no misses, or would I rather have Keith Senior making 12 tackles and the rest of the time watching his team mates as 3 tries are scored against you.

The dregs on here had an opportunity to critique Bailey and give him both barrels and keep their credibility at the same time.

It wasn't his finest hour. Solid in the tackle. But didn't lay a platform going forward. He let himself down. Anyone can call that.

Some have posted reasonable debate, but others (the longer the thread has gone on) seem to have delved into moronic, 'tard like, fools. Who are over-joyed by his none performance.

How many threads has Bails had in recent times? It appears that every team we play against feels the need to start a thread about TMFMISL.

It makes for entertaining viewing.

Bailey has attracted a lot of extra stick following this defeat because certain posters (guess who) have decided to laud him as some sort of 'second coming' on the basis of a few above average performances this season. It is unfair that he's getting more stick than other forwards (Leuluai for example) but then again Leuluai doesn't have a clique of keyboard warriors hanging on every little incident he is involved in on the field and giving him meaningless titles and accolades designed to wind up fans from other clubs.

FWIW I think Bailey has always made a good contribution to the team (even in 2006 & 2007 when the tide of opinion on this board was against him) but sadly he has only ever shown glimpses of becoming a prop who leads from the front in the mould of Graham, Peacock, Morley, Fielden etc. The good news is that he's still relatively young for a prop forward and has been showing signs of steady improvement under McClennan. Hopefully the arrival of Brian Mac will bring more out of him. I think he's a player that Leeds still need in their team but he desperately needs others around him who are more capable of winning the collision.

TMFTMITTISL is not a frontline prop forward and never will be. His remuneration package reflects the value he provides to the team. If that wasn't the case then he'd be paid significantly more than £800 a week.
