| Nice comeback from Williams.
Queensland are struggling a bit now just like in game one.

| Just got back from the ANZ, it was a poor game all in all! allthough the bit of biff was pretty good, crocker copped a beauty I really wanted the Blues to win this one and they probably should have, just stupid mistakes and a cr@p goalkicker made the difference.
Aussie fans are no where near as vocal as us English, great stadium and facilities though!

Noooo. Its state of origin, it can't have possibly have been a poor game its the pinicle of RL.
And I thought it was suppose to be competative? Isn't that 4 wins in a row for Queensland? Origin has gone a bit like international RL, NSW manage to scrape the odd win (like GB) but essentially are not good enough to beat a far supiror Queensland team (Aus)

| No such thing as a poor Origin game and this wasn't one either. The Maroons are just too damned good with no end in sight for the Blues.
Queensland have won the last 4 because they have claims to being the greatest team produced in the history of Origin - yet when they kicked off this winning sequence in 2006 they had lost the previous three series.
I honestly thought their side of the 80s containing Wally Lewis, Langer, Meninga, Miles, Dowling, Lindner etc was as good as it got but this one is just on a different level altogether.
Inglis is an absolute legend already - he again put Jamie Lyon completely in his place -and what Barrett did to him warranted a red card - he got put on report
What a wonderful side though -
Billy Slater is as good a full-back as there has been, Inglis and Hodges in the centres (it was Willie Tonga for Hodges today), Folau and Boyd on the wings, the ageless Lockyer and the mercurial Thurston as halves.
The indestructable evergreens Price and Civoniceva at prop with Cameron Smith in the middle, then Ashley Harrison, Sam Thaiday and workaholic Dallas Johnson at loose-forward. Magnificent.
I just love these games. Hull fans must be gutted that Crocker never made it to the KC Stadium this year as he's a beast.
Put your house on the Maroons making it 3-0 in Brisbane....even without Inglis.

Watched it live on 'box' here in Townsville. I though it WAS poor ...as far as good controlled ball work and well executed tries are concerned.
ALL the tries bar one (a good 'Wolfman' try...but it hardly made up for his inexcusable under 12 schoolboy inability to hold onto the ball twice in his own 30) were because of mistakes verging from the unfortunate (Hayne's interception from JT's pass) to the downright pathetic (Folau's and Lockyer's walk-ins). The Ingliss try was a result of lazy Blues play...and the second Hayne's try was bad refereeing..Should have been disallowed... but I guess they had to try making it more competitive for the second half.
Further bad refereeing would have put Qld out of sight in the first half (the unbelievably disallowed Harrison try). ..ditto making it a 'more competitive' match.
I am not doubting the intensity of the second half...but I have seen much better controlled and quality play/tries in the Superleague (maybe not quite so much from the rhinos )
Although I agree Ingliss would rather adequately solve our centre problems...I don't rate Billy Slater as highly as Gidley, Webby or even Greenshields. Yes..he's great on attack, in broken play...but on the high ball he never instills me with any confidence. Why was he not tested more in this way ? The blues' kicking game was woeful.
JT is a great player but Long is better ...and as for 'evergreens'...don't ever think Morley and Peacock to be past it for quite a number of years yet. How dare the Aussies laugh at us for ageing forwards.
Lockyer was outplayed by Barrett (who should have been sent off)..both were inferior to Pryce (at least when he plays for his club)... and McGuire surely has the talent to be better than any of them if he can learn to stop trying to beat himself all the time with a damn silly run instead of a good kick.
Just sorry I'm missing the Bulls game. Sure it's going to be far more enjoyable.

You make some good points, however the one above is IMO laughable, Sean Long is nowhere and has never been near the level of Jonathan Thurston.

I'm not talking about their respective goal-kicking abilities.

| This game had over 30 handling errors and over 50 yes 50 missed tackles - it was a terrible game given it is supposed to the pinnacle of RL - NSW would struggle against the top sides in SL they were terrible

I'd agree. I thought it was like an average/poor SL game to be honest, although it did spark up a bit in the second half.

| TVOC I take your point about dismissals being rare in Origin but feel the protection of icons like Inglis should be paramount in our game.
I think there have been just 2 previous dismissals in Origin :-
Craig Greenhill (ex Hull) for Queensland in 62nd minute of Game 2 in 1996 - sent off by David Manson for a high tackle on Paul Harragon (the man who effectively ended Ian Lucas' career four years earlier).
Gorden Tallis for Queensland in 71st minute of Game 1 in 2000 for calling Bill Harrigan 'a f****** cheat'. Too honest for his own good
And for those deluding themselves that NSW would struggle against SL opposition ......the only two Blues players with previous SL experience in Wednesday's team were Jamie Lyon (Man of Steel in 2005) and Trent Barrett (robbed of the Man of Steel award by a scandalous decision to give it to a 20-minute player in James Roby in 2007).

I agree as a rule that players ought to be protected but this is Origin and different rules are seemingly applied.
The Barrett hit was on the ball carrier as Inglis was slipping. I've seen a hell of a lot worse than that go unpunished in Origin and wasn't in the slightest bit surprised to see Barrett continue in the game.
