Hope the missus has the decency not to go into labour whilst we're there though.

Not many judging by the latest press release.
"Sports fans can take advantage of the pre purchase admission price from £19 for adults and £12 concessions on the day of the game at the Headingley turnstiles.
In addition, tickets are still available at www.rugbyleaguetickets.co.uk or by contacting the RFL Ticket Office on 0844 856 1113. "

We've just been offered them at £5 (seating or standing) in the Civil Service.
Muggins here went and bought two tickets last week at full whack

| If the game attracts 5,000 I will be amazed - unlike our antipodean counterparts the brits simply don't like manufactured games enough to part with hard cash.

If that was the case that will be nearly 3,000 down on last year's England v France game which drew 7,951 at Leigh - surely it will at least equal that?
I'm going and quite looking forward to it - I reckon a crowd of about 10k

| Who is playing? Sue Pollard? Matthew Kelly? Bradley Walsh? Russ Abbott? Shane Richie? Paul O'Grady? Barbara Windsor? Cilla Black? Les Dennis? Bobby Davro? Rolf Harris? The Chuckle Brothers?
Who is the dame who gets to play in drag? Which two will be combining to play the horse? Who plays the fairy? Is McGuire up for it or is he still stretchered off?
Oh, yes it is!
Oh, no it isn't!
He's behind you!

That game was a full international - it wasn't competitive - but a full international all the same.
This is a replacement for a flawed Yorkshire v Lancashire concept that no one wanted to watch? Whilst England maybe more competitive than the French it is still a manufactured game with no gravitas.

What Australians get up to in their spare time is entirely up to them, whether that be staged slapstick biff, mate against mate, state against state, Castlemaine XXXX V VB Bitter all refereeed by a weak Carlton Mid-Strength coldie alongside a Bundy Rum sponsored video ref on the Harvey Norman scoreboard with a KFC play of the day soap on a rope performance by the lot of 'em in the communal showers afterwards.
I prefer bona fide international games personally.
International Origin?
Sideshows are for entertaining the ts.

Before kick off nearly 8,000 people knew last years game, full international or not, was going to be a walkover and still turned up though.
I remember similar doom and gloom attendance predictions before that game, main reason was supposedly that England had their first game in the football World Cup the same day.
There's no similar destractions this year and surely there's going to be more interest in this game, which is likely to be a hell of a lot more competitive even if it's not a full international. just think a predicted crowd of less than 5k is way off the mark!

You're right. It's not a full international.
It's not a half, quarter, eighth or sixteenth international either.
It's not even valid preparation for the Four Nations in Oct/Nov.
It's an exhibition game (it might even be a pantomime) which has no right whatsoever to be marketed as an international on any level.
It's most definitely prolefeed for the entertainment of the ted masses. Nothing more, nothing less.
Free entry couldn't persuade me to attend.

Surely its better preparation than a one sided game against the French or the Welsh, even if there really is no competitive edge to it

Who should England play in preparation for the Four Nations then? I agree it's not ideal, but it will surely do the team more good than putting a cricket score on France again.

How can an exhibition game played over four months before the Four Nations kicks off be considered preparation?
Correct... it isn't.
