He's a good player, and he isn't getting much to work with. , but he's way off Hall's level at the moment, and he looks to have lost a yard of pace, the more I see him, the more I think he'd be more suited to centre.

I don't see any traits of a centre in him. I do think he'll be better on a dryer/harder surface, but if he's not performing as a winger, somebody else should be given a chance

Completely drained of confidence, doesn't see any "real" ball, bar doing the dirty exit yardage, often thrown ridiculous speculative passes and expected to perform miracles.

Needs early, quality ball (shock horror) and a few nice easy tries to boost the confidence, an interception return would be a dream come true.

I know Handley struggled vs Cas, but then again everyone did and most have bounced back well so I'd give Handley another go next week.

Even off form he's better than Handley. Wouldn't mind Johnstone though.

True. A lacking in confidence Handley always results in huge errors. Briscoe will play himself back into form. He works hard, it's just doesn't always happen for him. Nothing's ever handed in a plate to our wingers in recent seasons, they make their own luck

This had me in stitches. TJ is top quality, mistakes are rare, he's got a great boot, step, speed, pass and can score a try from nothing. His defence is too draw too. Probably the best player I've ever seen come out of Wakey and this kid has it all. To put him in the same sentence as Briscoe is insulting. He's already everything Briscoe should have been. You won't see him week in week out but he's a real star and I fear how long we can hide him.

That said he's probably the only player who turned up to play tonight lol we were dire. Good win for you lot that. Played a lot smarter than wakey.

Would be absolutely gutted if anything like that were to happen. Think There would have to be a hell of a lot of cash involved in that one. Certainly wouldn't be in wakefields favour on a playing front

Comparing a 21 year old player in his 2nd full season to an international Lance Todd trophy winning player is 'insulting'? Any player (including Johnstone) would be lucky to have half the career Briscoe has had.

Wakefield wouldn't be willing to do a straight swap, and Leeds wouldn't be willing to pay out as all available funds need to go towards the new south stand. We should definitely sign him for free when he's out of contract, if he keeps up his form, wouldn't be surprised if he's in the World Cup squad.

Briscoe looks a shadow of his former self. however hopefully a couple of trys and some confidence back and this may change. some decent service might help mind

I never really understood why we signed Briscoe in the first place, at the time we had BJB and as it stands right now, I'd rather have Ben back on the wing.

Briscoe is an upgrade on BJB. was at the time and that's been shown to be true.
remains to be seen if its just a loss of form or if injuries are catching up with him.
never thought handley was the long term answer myself mind but that's another issue

At the time Briscoe was a marginal upgrade on BJB and, in my mind, was an unnecessary expense and money that could have been put to better use.

He was in poor form for all of last season and has carried that form through to this year but it would seem that if you've had 'former glory' at Leeds that's enough to guarantee you a shirt these days.

I thought he was way better when bought, and has proved his worth since.

Exactly this & although i rate TJ very highly lets see him perform over a number of years first & whatever any Wakey fan says if/when the money is right he'll be off elsewhere providing he maintains his quality.

An in form Briscoe still brings more to the than BJB, or Johnstone at the moment. If we had BJB or Johnstone in the team at the moment, that would only really mean we had one decent kick returner in the back 3. The ability to do the hard yards in the early part of the set is probably more important than scoring trys for the modern winger and they're aren't many better at that than an in form Briscoe.

He is still a great player. We just use our wingers as extra props at Leeds. We give them nothing other than speculative passes.

Agree with this. I think Briscoe is a significant step up from BJB. As you say the beginnings of sets are so important in the modern game and having 3 good kick returners back in 2015 was a significant factor in our success in my opinion.

I agree with you Briscoe is out of form and has been playing outside an out of form Watkins. Watkins last night looked sharper on attack so Briscoe can look forward to increase opportunities which he will help he regain his form. Handley has serious defensive weaknesses that he has to correct before he becomes anything more than a reserve.
