I am a Scotsman and live just outside Edinburgh but have always been a rabid Rhino from afar for the last 30 years or so, so just not following a winning team. I have a season ticket for the football here (Hearts), but if Superleague is on the telly I always watch or tape all games.

I saw the Rhinos when the magic weekend was held in Murrayfield, and I came down 2/3 years back for my first game at Headingley, even though Hull KR unexpectedly beat us.

I have 2 questions. I am down York way with the Mrs and her mother for a long weekend, and I have spotted the Rhinos are away to Castleford on the Fri. What are my chances of being able to go. Cash or ticket gate ?, sellout ? I am thinking of maybe being able to kill 2 birds with a stone.

Lastly, is there anywhere I can hear any rugby league commentary on the radio ? I have looked and can't find any.

Any advice/help is appreciated.

When Leeds are away at Cas, it's usually a sell out or at least close to one. With it being on a Friday (and probably on TV?) that probably won't be the case, but I would recommend that you buy tickets prior to turning up. You can get them delivered and bought online from the Cas website a few weeks prior to the game.

Most clubs have local BBC radio stations which broadcast commentary (i.e. BBC Radio Leeds, Humberside)- I know however that Cas now have their own radio station which broadcasts all game.

You can buy your tickets online for most clubs through their websites, I'm sure you'll be able to do it that way through either the Leeds or Castleford website, if you do it before the matchday you'll probably get it slightly cheaper too

Just to clarify about the rugby on the radio in general. Are the Rhinos games normally live on the radio? Here rugby league isn't big, but if I could listen to Rhinos games when not on the telly that would be great.

BBC Radio Leeds, and Radio Yorkshire, both cover Leeds games. I think you can access both of them as online stations so you can listen anywhere in the country

Cas is a great ground if their is a decent away following, and it's not raining.

I've never wanted to listen to a Superleague game online and not been able to. All teams (at least the M62 corridor ones) have their games covered by local stations. If in doubt go onto the rugby league BBC sport page and there's usually links for commentary.

talksport 2 did a lot of games last season. i assume they will be doing similar this time out

Sunday afternoons from 3pm BBC Radio Leeds have rugby league commentary for 3 hours until 6pm. Its Like Soccer Saturday on the radio. Features 1 or 2 main games i.e Leeds and Cas or whoever the big clubs are when playing on a sunday plus goes around the grounds of other games including championship and league 1 games. Good to listen to. Can get that online at bbc radio leeds.

The game shouldnt sell out as its a friday night but if you go to castlefordtigers.com 2 week before the game you can buy the tickets online and pick up from the ground before you go in. Very easy to do.

I think they only do the Thursday/Friday games that are on Sky though. He's talking about listening to games that aren't on tv. Their coverage has been pretty good though the couple of times I've listened.

Unlike a lot of grounds, it's actually unsegregated, so you can stand where you like - in the rain or undercover, whatever takes your fancy. Hope that helps.

I suppose being a Thursday night won't help - last year it was the Thursday of the bank holiday?

Will the Leeds crowd travel in the same volumes given its a school night and the way the team performed last season?

By the time we get to that game we'll have played 3 games so should have a decent jist of how we are going. The opening day game away to Saints, a win there and people will be encouraged that last year is behind us. A poor loss and people will fear a repeat.

Cas away is the one fixture of the season I like to attend. It was the only SL fixture I attended last season and the season before that. Another Thursday night slot for this fixture may kibosh any plans this time around.

I forecast the attendance will be lower than last season which was also played on a Thursday night.

Of course it will, last year it was the Thursday of the Easter break. Hardly groundbreaking forecasting.

Bet he still tries to make a big deal of it when we play though.
