Catalans Dave Taylor topped the ridiculous charts though by voting for Beau Falloon as his Man of Steel. He also put Joel Moon 2nd. Chris Clarkson put Stevie Ward 3rd and Thomas Minns returned the favour and picked Liam Sutcliffe 2nd.

Glad Houghton won, very professional hard working pro who doesn't court the limelight and will run through a brick wall time and again for the team cause. Good to see a guy like that get due recognition.

And to think we were very heavily linked with him at the start of the year. Missed at trick there the sleeve I think.

Score 40 tries and beat the record for most in a season and get beaten by a bog standard hooker who made one good tackle in a cup final as his team whimpered out of the play-offs?

Solomona should've won it.

And more than half of those will have been walk overs. great achievment but he didn't even win the Cas player of the year that was Junior Moors. great year no doubt, but Houghton deserved his win. you have been hugely dis respectful calling him bog standard, he has been far from that this year at least.

I would have had him at the top of my shopping list earlier this year.

Although I have always appreciated Houghton's defence I was one who felt his distribution was a weakness and therefore was not enthusiastic to sign him. However he has been outstanding this season and thoroughly deserves the award for his consistently good allround performances and an unbelievable level of fitness which have changed my opinion.

Perhaps I was over the top - however I'm not a fan of Houghton.

I think he has been outstanding this year. I always liked him, and he would have been good for us as I felt he was a good likeness, playing style, of paul aiton.

He is still a better malcolm alker in my opinion. Has looked good behind a dominant pack but he has done it all year and to high level so I wouldn't argue with the award.

Think the likes of Clark are still more likely to change a game or win a game for you so they would be my preference

I've rated Houghton a long time. He's a very worthy MOS when you consider his week in week out contribution.

A specialist hooker winning MOS. Who would have thought the position was so important.

The second hooker in 3 years to win it. Prior to that, only a further 3 did so in the period 1977-2013.

I think that Houghton is a worthy winner of the MoS award. He epitomises what the award is about.
Having said that I believe either of the other two contenders were would also have been worthy winners.

Indeed, Our hooker was our Player of the year aswell.
