Not surprised by the news if confirmed. He was in the press earlier in the year saying he was looking for another head coach opportunity at SL level.

I don't really have any thoughts on him in the role but he's been employed by and worked alongside Tony Smith, Brian McDermott and Steve McNamara so he should be better equipped to cope with the pressures than he was the last time out.

(Sky SL Full-Time were giving the Castleford job to Daryl Powell on Monday so obviously this will need confirmation.)

I have mixed views on james lowes, so if he goes to cas which seems to be a long shot I won't shed any tears.
All this speculation is good fun , so who would make a good assistant to Brian Mac.

Wayne Bennett or Tim Sheens or Craig Bellamy would do nicely thank you

Powell confirmed to Featherstone fans post match this weekend that he was going nowhere.

Seems to me Powell is smart. I am sure he wants another crack at Super League but I can think of many reasons why Cas would not be an appealing choice.

Lowes, on the other hand, never struck me as being smart.

I don't know what he brings to the table here but I wish him well if this is true.

Powell wants the job, And is gutted he isn't getting the chance, I think it would cost us to buy him out of his deal at Fev, And we aren't prepared to do it.

Good luck to him if true, but seems like a move that Powell wouldn't want to touch. Can't see cas in SL for much longer

It's a no-lose gig for a relatively inexperienced head coach. They're about rock bottom, so the only way performances can possibly go is up.

If he fails, he's got enough success on his CV as an assistant to pick up another job in that role.

If Lowes does leave, don't be surprised if his appointment comes from within the club.

Why would anyone want to go to Cas with so much uncertainty?

They look favourites to be booted out of SL at the end of next season, possibly for Toulon?

Although, I wouldn't mind seeeing him carry on the good work he's done with the academy.

What about Keith Senior?

Chris Plume is one name I've heard banded around.

There's also a current player on the staff with experience of coaching at junior level who could be tempted into a player/assistant coach role.

Burrow?

Off the top of my head JJB has the above experience as does JP and Burrow. Can't see it being burrow

I must admit Jimmy wasn't my 1st choice to join us when he did but he's been part of a coaching set up that has seen us win Back to back GF's from 5th ,get to 2 CC finals and win 1 out of 2 WCC's plus the improvements in our regular SL form this year.
I wish him well if he does leave and for me i'd like to see JP get involved in the coaching set up along with Sinfield eventually.

Sinfield will be busy leading the revolution, I'm afraid.
