| I know it's earlier doors, but where do we think we need to bolster the Squad for the Future?
I think the Front Row needs looking at. Who from the Reserve Grade would you promote to the Front Row?
Would you sign Keith Senior into the Pack once he is recovered?

| I would re-sign Amor from Wakey providing he shows the same form he had before his injury. Singleton is not far away from making the step up and Syron is looking good also. The jury is out on Ambler we will have to wait and see with him. We could be looking at promoting or signing a new fullback dependent on Webb's plans are.

Why Ridiculous? Their is going to be a 2013 Season and our main Props are on their way out. It's just a question.

| A top class prop is a prerequisite in my view.
If we don't get another year out of Webb then we'll need to replace his creativity; but not necessarily from FB.
After that it depends on whether one of McShane or Hood make the grade as SL class.

| I think we'll see the departure of a few players deemed surplus to requirements as well as Leuluai. We have a lot of forwards around, many of whom if we're honest are average to good rather than anything special. At prop we have Griffin, Moore, Bailey, Peacock and then Kirke, Ambler/Amor, Singleton. The second row is equally logjammed with Ablett, JJB, Delaney, Clarkson, Pitts and Hauraki.
I'd prefer it if we promoted from within if possible, and let at least two of the above go.
Having said all that, the chances are we'll sign a big-name forward just to prove me wrong.

| For me when Kylie goes i'd take Amor back providing he continues to show good form and the potential he has thus far at Wakey.
In terms of JP i think we'll get next year out of him max then he may retire after the WC we have Singleton who should step up imo then D.Smith ,Syron and also Nicholson amongst the younger ranks with potential to come through.
I would'nt be surprised to see the likes of Kirke and Hauraki depart and hopefully Pitts can hit his potential and be retained the potential BR's coming through are Roche ,Bravo and possibly Finder although it may be a year or 2 early for Finder.
IF Webb departs then for me it's a straight choice between Bjb ,Watson ,Smith and Chisolm for the Wing/FB spots with Josh Sunley the next in line from the U 18's.
Of course there's always room for quality to be added from outside the club but failing that the conveyor belt is still there and imo should be the 1st port of call IF the potential is there.

| I think promotion from within is certainly the way the club is going. If the club does make any signing I would hope its a game breaking forward. I think we have a lot of grafters in the pack but could still do with some Lauiti'iti style impact in there somewhere

I hope the latest news doesn't impact on your suggestions ....which I would support.
I also agree on Amor and Kirke. However, I still have hope for Hauraki and I do hope Pitts can successfully edge Kirke out of the squad as early as this season....neh....this [iweek[/i.

| Promote from within. I think the situation with the image rights dispute and the exchange rate would rule out any top import coming from the NRL, so you're looking at who is available from other SL clubs - and nothing would particularly excite me there.

| We wanted to sign Ellis, a world class backrower, we shouldn't change from that plan. Other than Ablett we don't have world class in that deapartment, just solid graft. We need a high class high impact player for that role. Would like to see JJB used as the impact sub where IMO he would excell, rather than running his blood to water as he does now with less effect.
I would release Webb, Kirke, and Hauraki, and other than the high class backrower I would promote from within. Unless there was any chance whatsover in signing Thurston, Cherry-Evans, or the young kid at New Zealand Warriors, in which case I would bring in in a shot.

Poor Judgement of how JJB should be used that, he is a a grafter who sets a good tone you want him on as much as possible, not an impact sub.

Was that a plan or just opportunism?
I think we're well stacked for backrowers but do agree that an Ali (impact/gamebreaker) type second row would be nice...problem is they're like hens teeth and the ones that are good are unlikely to leave the NRL (or not join the NRL in SBW's case). It really is a shame things didn't work out with Eastwood.
Also, as good as Ellis is he wouldn't have given us that either.

| What about in the halves for the future?
Danny and Rob with Sir Kev have been great, but have we anything coming through to supplement them as they come towards the end of great careers?

| We seem to have decent long-term succession planning in place for our veterans at prop, hooker, fullback (Smith or Briscoe), stand-off (Ward or Hardaker) and backrow. The only position it looks like we'll have to buy in over the next few years (unless an Ali-type impact player becomes available) is scrum-half, although it's hardly urgent at the moment.

On the whole I agree with your views. However one alternative might be at full-back. I don't think Smith will be with us next year. It could be BJB at full-back with either a youngster being promoted to the first team squad or a signing. There was a rumour a couple of weeks ago about David "Wolfman" Williams signing for us which brought some positive or negative reaction from supporters on this forum. I don't know how reliable the rumour is but it's an alternative.

T-Rex would be a cracking signing.

I would agree. JJB has been the workhorse engine of the Leeds pack for some time now capable of playing the full 80. Why change a winning formula?
