All joking aside though..if Ablett & Watkins are ruled out I'd still prefer the 2011 (un-injured) version of Senior in the centres for such a big game

| To be honest though, it's not such a bad move really. Even from the sidelines he can impart some experience and wisdom to whoever does play left centre at Wembley, and besides, it's nice to see him being treat as a part of the group on such a big occasion.

| I will take this as an opportunity to hijack this thread.
Nice to see Senior being treated well by the club, especially given the Crusaders debarcle and then The Kear incident.
We could do worse than give Keith another year as it looks like we wont be signing a centre for next year.

I have to admit, I have had similar thoughts myself recently. If Keith was being considered good enough for a 2 year contract in SL with Crusaders, surely he could still do a job for us next year. The only stumbling block would be, of course, what was said at the time that Leeds Rhinos decided he no longer was part of the plans at Headingley, and could things be smoothed out in order to get him into a contract for 1 year at Leeds?

I think, in the nicest possible way, sometimes Keiths mouth gets ahead of his brain.
I suspect GH said he couldn't guarantee him a first team slot every week. Now though things look a bit different. Delaney is not playing in the centres, Smith is out of favour and whilst Ablett has done a great job, he isn't a centre.
If Keith can prove his fitness I think he would be a good option.

Shall we start a sweepstake on how long the 2011 Wembley club training kit etc. makes it on to a certain auction based website ?
[size=40*PS Squeef ... Any chance you can give me a nudge and I might be interested in making a bid [/size

After Crusaders backed out of SL Kear said he would love to have Keith and it looked like serious talks were to start. Then Wakey and Kear 'parted company' leaving Keith with nobody to talk to again.
Gotta feel sorry for the guy. Great servant to RL and SL and with him needing a second knee op things dont look great for him right now.

| I'd rather see Nantwich get his way and see Hall/BJB/Which ever youngster he's creaming over this week get a chance before we re-sign Keith.

| This started off slightly tongue in cheek but Im starting to believe my own hype now.
Our current option at left centre are Delaney, Smith, Ablett
Delaney - Seems far more effective in the 2nd row. In the centre he is defensive and not really what we need.
Smith - Not consistent enough and Brain doesnt trust him so really dont see him getting a game even if we only had him and Kylie to choose from.
Ablett - Done a fantastic job but is not (in my view) a longterm option and should go back to the 2nd row next season.
You can also make a case for hardaker getting the nod. I would not be against this as I think he will end up in the centre but he is still young and a bit light. A year of Hardaker and Senior alternating would be a very positive thing in my view.

Delaney - Definitely a SR Forward
Smith - Defensively Weak and lacking belief in himself
Ablett - Agreed, Fantastic Job filling in, but like Delaney, a SR Forward.
Keith to mentor his Successor but to Sign a 1yr extention to be there in the Big Games.

Be serious. If we ARE going to be tongue in cheek
Our new coach for 2012 is going to play:
1.. BJB ( he's waited long enough )
2.. Watkins ( too defensively weak for centre )
3.. Hardaker ( filled out a bit for season )
4.. Hall ( ideal for role )
5.. Chisholm ( speed to burn lacking until now )
6.. Webb/ McGuire / Smith ( take your pick )
7.. Burrow ( too much spirit, great defence and speed to be omitted )

I think we'd lose more than we'd win with a Back Line that inexperienced.
Such losses would dent confidence and do more harm than good.
Adding ingredients too quickly will spoil the finished product

I said SLIGHTLY tongue in cheek, not the whole Benny Hill show.
Is your suggestion that we dont need another centre for next year?
If you do think we do then who? From what I can see out options are limited and on that basis Senior could do a job for us for a year and would be a big help to our young backs.

Is this the same Senior who prior to his injury was being described on here as finished, washed up and not worth offering another contract to (not saying that was your opinion, but it did seem to be the prevailing one on here)?
What's changed? If he wasn't good enough in March, why is he good enough now?

| Great player in his day and still capable of shining moments, but let's not got cloudy eyed. Let's move forward. Not neccessarily quite as forward as Nantwich seems to want to go but still...

Plus he has had a career threatening injury since!!
Just because the CEO has been incapable of signing a suitable replacement doesn't justify re-signing yet another over-the-hill 30+ year old
