Confirmed that Sinfield was also playing with injuries.
Also mentions that Brent Webb was playing with a broken cheekbone/eye socket after the CC win against pies.
Players now recovering from injuries : JP, McGuire, Burgess, Kirke, Bailey, Smith, Amor, Sinfield and Diskin.
And there was me thinking Leeds don't play players with injuries *cough* Tvoc.

| Roll on 2011! Under these circumstances to achive what we have this year is creditable. One benefit of having only 1 player in the internationals is that JP, Mags, Sinny et al will have a proper off season for quite a number of years, watch out pies - we've merely loaned the trophy to you this year

| Interesting story this and I think there might be quite a few things 'written' between the lines in this story! I have no doubt that McGuire, Peacock and Sinfield would have been selected with Ryan Hall and be on the plane this Friday if fit. I also think that the preferred England starting line-up would have had Hall, McGuire (with Tomkins starting at FB) and Peacock in it but I am not sure about Sinfield! He seems to be overlooked as not being a suitable and typical 13 and ended up playing at 9 and 6 in previous games. He is clearly carrying injuries but my suspicion is that, while he clearly does need some time to recover, if he thought he was going to a play a major part in the tour he might have still gone, but I think he knows that he probably wouldn't, and staying at home and having a few months seems like a good idea to me.
I also like the way Bluey is publicly 'disappointed' that only Hall made the squad, but to be honest I bet he is quite pleased. I don't think that anyone else in the current Rhinos squad is currently up to a place on the tour but suspect that one or two of the forwards might have been close but not close enough.
I think Hall will come back much better for the experience of going down-under and not only is he the first winger down on the team-sheet he is probably the third of fourth name down when picking the England 17.
Good luck to him and I also pleased that we will have the rest squad taking a proper break.

I remember playing Hudds away and he was playing on one leg. He looked battered during a lot of games but didn't seem to have a break.

| Personally I can see this being Hall's opportunity to put himself in the shop window for a spell in Oz/NZ. He has the stature for it, and from what I know of him, the temperament too.

I don't think so, his body is battered. He still put's in the performances, but for example after he's taken a drive you'll see him running back into position and his body and legs look like they're abaout to fall apart.
Someone like senior, as old as he is still looks very sterdy and solid. Hall's legs are always patched up, it looks like the bandaging holds them together.
Battered.

Me too, although you do realise that, should we be successful next year, it will all have been a conspiracy by the RFL to give us an unfair advantage.

Yup
It was us who brought this slowing the PTB down after all.
It was us who cheated to win every game.
It was us who scored the most tries from forward passes all thanks to MVP quarterback Keith Senior.
It was our fault we angered the rugby gods by not letting the goons win at home in the playoffs.
Etc Etc.

Of course players play while carrying knocks, they wouldn't be able to raise a 17 most weeks if they didn't.
Your mistake IIRC was to claim Leeds treated their player's injuries different to other SL sides during games and theyt were prepared to take risks with player's health just to get them on the field.
You said much the same when they got Eastwood out on the pitch for the semi final at Huddersfield and yet he went on to play in the remaining games of the season also proving their decision was the correct one and based on the medical evidence and not based on it necessitating 'a miracle.'

| I can't help thinking how many of those leg injuries have been a consequence of playing the first third of home games on a pitch that resembled a beach. Hopefully they'll sort it for the start of next season.

I agree with you and that thought crossed my mind mid season. I also think that while it was for a good cause, the Disko testimonial game played, in the conditions that it was, was a bad mistake as the pitch was unbelievably heavy. I believe, (TVOC?) that Delaney picked up an injury during that match.
It was very extreme weather last year, but I hope that Leeds have learnt a lesson in terms of putting some of the matches on regardless of the weather, instead thinking of the money. I notice that they have already announced Wakefield on Boxing day, but I would like to see pre season games kept to a minimum, especially if the conditions mirror those seen last year.

The pitch was only a problem because of the worst winter for 30+ years and spending most of late December, January and early February covered by frost sheets!
It is looking like it only has to do one more RU and RL season and then we will get a brand new pitch along with what I assume will be a brand new under-soil heating system.

From what I can remember I was questioning Leeds players coming back early from injuries. You responded by saying something along the lines of 'Leeds don't/won't put players health at risk'. You went on and on and on and on until your bored everyone including yourself. Well hasn't that article proved your theory wrong. Broken eye socket oh dear, bad injury that one, thats what I call putting health at risk. But that is what RL is all about I suppose, they are hard barstewards.

Big Keith playing a full season with a painful shoulder. Unable to use his right fend all season, which is a big part of his running game.

| Jesus, when you read that you just think the club is run like a joke.
All of that just looks farsical.
Then at the bottom they are now going to advertise for the under 20's position. WTF. They knew this position was to fill 3 months back, why have they waited until now.

Comes at the same time Franny is annouced as Bulls assistant. Maybe waiting until he's officially moving on.

He was annouced as but he was struggling to find a club. Maybe GH was hopeful Franny would review his situation and hang around coaching the U20s until he found a job. Doing that would obviously of been a step down, but a job is a job, and he has gone down a notch been Bulls' assitant anyway.

Can't agree with that. He may well have played at 9, but to be honest we look weak in that role and he was probably our best player playing there last year. I think he'd have been one of the first names on the team sheet if he'd been fit. We'll never know, but that's my guess.

Neither him or Poaching left on their own. Their contracts were not renewed. The intention was always to replace. And why would Franny want to become 3rd in the pecking order, rather than 2nd as now?
