Despite this being a Leeds United song which was released for the 1971 FA Cup final why do Rhinos fans sing this song. If we were to sing the entire song we would be singing the line 'glory glory Leeds United'.
Saints dont sing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' so why do we persist with singing our local football teams anthem?

We do, its called "Marching on Together", we bought the rights to it from LUFC a few years ago during the administration process, Ken Bates didn't like it and was glad to get a few quid for it.
When they play the song at Elland Road now they have to pay Leeds Rugby Ltd a performance fee.

If my memory serves me correctly you would have to flip over the 7" black disc and play the other side to hear that line .
Can anyone confirm ? I ain't got a record player anymore . Still got the single though .
EDIT * BTW . The song title is Leeds Leeds Leeds , not Marching On Together.
The other side (which I think was the 'A' side) was Glory Glory Leeds United IIRC.

ok sorry clever clogs it was the 1971-72 fa cup final and was re released when united got promoted but that does not matter one bit. It could have 1921 Fa cup final (Spurs v Wolves if ur gunna get pedantic) the point is that its a football song not a rugby song. |
