All super league clubs and the RFL have agreed to install countdown clocks at every ground so the excitement can be increased during the final minutes of a game. Would a countdown clock to the league's opening kickoff help?

Long overdue. It was introduced to RU a few years ago and I can never understand why we don't have it.

I've said for a while that electronic scoreboards and real time clocks should be a mandatory part of the ground criteria.

I agree, at least when the scorecard at Leeds works, still feel we need a new one installing.

I do hope it is made a league requirement that the Countdown music is played with 30 seconds to go

Now I did not know this, but as soon as I read it I thought, arghh, that is why we have a count-down clock at Headingley we don't seem to use!!!

I suspect that we might end up with our own sky type 'screen' at some point, which we would just use as a scoreboard when not on TV, but also thought they would not bother until such time the majority of the ground re-development is finished.

I always presumed they didn't have one as they couldn't be @rsed to keep it in sync with the time-keepers' timings.

I can't see it being that difficult to get the timekeeper's clock to appear on a screen/scoreboard in this day and age.

Now I know we already have an electronic scoreboard, but if we are having a countdown clock, can we revert back to the old style scoreboards and hire Carol Vordermann to put the scores up for us.

I presume the timekeepers will be responsible for running the stadium clock? Otherwise you will end up with two potentially conflicting versions of when time is up.

Do the timekeepers control the on-screen clock at Sky games currently, or are Sky responsible for running that themselves?

We have already got one... well the ground has, for RU games, next to score board on the scaffold. Has she not retired now anyway... I understand her replacement is rather tasty and younger, we could get her?

Yes and assume the clock already there for RU is geared up as such. And, yes the timekeepers, not sky control the clock at Sky games as I understand it.

There is actually someone from SKY sat with the timekeepers.

The clock on the big screen technically isn't the official time. It's controlled by the SKY Man and not the timekeepers.

I’m with Emma on the point of it’ll add excitement to close games but I like my rugby league games to be timeless. Whilst this clock is good for start of, end of first half and end of match etc it could be disappointing if we have a clock telling us we’ve got half an hour to go.

Its about getting it right. No harm but still..
