Evening. I need to impress this lass and she likes Indian food so will be taking her out on Saturday. What in your opinon is the best Indian in Leeds. I live in the centre and have been to the Aaagrah before but would like to go somewhere different. Ive heard good things about Amaans in Morley.

If you want to stay in Leeds and also want to impress try Mumtaz on Clarence Dock. Food still not quite as good at the original in Bradford but still great venue and great food. Oh, they don't have alcohol on the premises as is there policy, so just note that if you do go.

You wouldn't go far wrong with Amaans. Fantastic food, nice restaurant and excellent staff as well.

I have been to a function at Alea but not for anythings else, is the food good? It was average and slow at the function but it was a big dinner and I have not come to expect great food at these type of events.

I did used to use a few Casino's in London for food with clients at one time and in general the food was good and very reasonable.

He would have to join 24 hours in advance though and sign her in as a guest?

Supposedly fantastic but I've not made it there yet.

Cheers mate. When you say Mumtaz wont allow alcohol - does that mean they dont allow you to bring a bottle of wine in or do they just not serve it?

Both I am afraid. They have a very nice sign at both the Bradford and Clarence Dock restaurants explaining this. That all said, their Mango Lassi is to die for, so there is a small consolation!

Akbars on Eastgate... better than the one on Greek Street.

Superb vegetarian food and lovely staff. Even the confirmed meat eaters in our group (including Oliver Cross from YEP) thought it was very good

Excellent food.

On a Fri/Sat night its far too busy for its fairly small size though and you can sometimes feel like your been rushed in and out so they can use your table for the masses waiting downstairs.

Shows how popular a place it is but depends on your definition of impressing a girl.

If your wanting great food and to have 3 courses and be in and out in 20 mins and then back to yours/hers for some shuftilas then



If you want to spend a fine evening and take your time chatting and enjoying each others company between courses...... before getting back to yours/hers for some shuftilas then I'd say avoid FRiday and Saturday night

ask them for the "long keema naan bread",its not on the menu,but theyll do it,ing awesome.

BTW,when it comes to chain indians then Akbars is the best,the one on the headrow is the best of the two.

BUt,sheesh Mahal,for all its basics,beats them all on food.
