| Just want to mention what a great season i think big mitch has had this year and also get others opinions on him??
I personally think he's one of the very best props in super league and dosnt get the recognition he deserves. He's averaged 141 running meters and 22 tackles a game this season and averages 8.32 meters a carry which leads all props and second rows in super league with over 100 carrys.
He's 28 now and i think we'l see him get even better over the next 3 or 4 year.

Agree with this. Think Mullally always adds something when he comes on

| mullally has really kicked on lately. trouble is him and singleton are good 4th choice props. the players you really value in a salary capped sport. a modern day danny ward or ryan bailey. we lack a really top prop.
given alex walmsley was given permission to speak to cas we should go all out for him. but that would mean spending money

| Leeds haven't shown much reluctance to spend money before though. The ~£125k for Brett Ferres last year is one of the largest transfer fees of recent times.
There is something of a myth that because Hetherington is a tough negotiator (some might question that given the Ferres deal but it seemed a good one at the time) that he won't invest [ianything[/i in bringing players in. Driving a hard bargain is different to doing nothing at all.

| Is that what we payed for ferres? my god, what a bad signing he's been, but like ghost says was happy at the time.
Garbutts played 21 of 30 league games so its not too bad.

| Even if we did pay £125K, I don't think that was a mistake by GH. More often than not, especially when we were performing poorly, GH is critiscised for not putting his hand in his pocket. Whilst at this point in time Ferres hasn't been worth the money, he always looked great at Shudds when he played against us. An injury, subsequent poor off season and a certain, how to put it delicately? lack of fitness. mitigate against saying he was a bad signing. But if he / the club, don't get him fit this close season and we don't see the contribution from him that I still believe he is capable of, then he will have been a costly failure. But still not one I would criticise GH for.

| Dont think anybody is criticising hetherington for signing ferres.Myself and ghost have both said we were happy with it and thought he was a good buy at the time. The fact that he's turned out to be an awful signing so far isnt a criticism of hetherington, its a chance you take when you sign anybody. The player we signed was a quality super league and international second row who was coming off the back of an impressive series against the kiwis. Hethrington done well to get him in.
The player who showed up was an ijury prone, penalty machine who seems to think personal conditioning is optional for a professional athlete. Thats on ferres not hetherington.

| Ferres as been awfull, Delaney has been a great signing, but is busted, JJB mind will body won't too many mistakes and penalties. Singleton average, we can't carry this amount of dead wood we need two-three players to freshen up, at least one should be a prop, we should bust the bank for walmsely justbthe type of player we need, and two new back rowers. Or one stepping up from academy.
Cuthbo Garbut mullally are all keepers for me, Galloway unfortunately injured long term. Oledski should punch through next year and hopefully project ormanroyd can make the step up. Only one of JJB Delaney ferres should be kept. And delebay is crock and ferres us crap, Jjb in short spells.

| Hoping next year we see Ferres fighting fit and a less banged up Cuthbertson and maybe even Galloway playing more than a handful.
Delaney and JJB are physically done and Ablett isn't getting younger. We need to look now so we don't end up with patch jobs like hooker the last few years or the half back issue we now have.
If Walmsley is available we should be doing our best to get him.

| I'd say we definitely need another forward in for next year. Otherwise the risk of us having an injury-prone decrepit pack next season AND having to replace a bunch of forwards the following off season is huge.

If that is true then Cas will walk top spot again next year and Leeds should hang their heads in shame in not getting him. He is top drawer and Leeds need someone like Walmsley without a doubt.

| Any chance that part of the reason for Ferres' weight gain is he's being bulked up for a move to prop? If he interchanged with Cuthbertson it would be more like for like than any option we've got right now...

Walmsley signed a contract in April 2015 for 3 1/2 years so will be under contract with the saints until end 2018.

| If he is available then we should be throwing everything at Walmsley, we must have some space on the cap and he would be perfect for us.
Imagine Parcell and Walmsley working together, add Cuthbertson and opposition middle forwards would be terrified to face us
If Cas sign him then they just about guarantee their place in the playoffs for the next 3/4 years, so even if they bottle it this year they will have plenty more chances at winning the GF

What's the deal with Walmsley? Does he want back to Yorkshire for personal reasons, obviously he recently had a child.
Surely saints will be desperate to keep him and regardless of current form etc saints to cas would historically be a backward career move (apologies to any lurking Cas fans but it's pretty hard to argue that saints aren't a uch bigger club)
