Have you eaten at Ego on East Parade near St Pauls St, Park Place? Any good? If not, any other good current recommends?

Got some good friends coming up from the South and want to try somewhere new to eat.

I work just down the street from there so a couple of us tried it the other week - was busy on a lunchtime but the food was really good and service was quick and polite.

They seem to have a few offers on at the minute as they're relatively new so worth looking out for vouchers to save a few quid.

Would recommend anyway.

Yes.

Went to the all you can eat lunchtime buffet you will be surprised to hear. Variety of food is good but they don't quite keep it warm enough.

It did look nice and the menu good yet varied. To answer Lawrie, it says Mediterranean rather than Italian and the menu has Spanish, Italian, Greek and North African dishes on the menu.

Might give it a try.

I went in a few times after it opened and it was alright.

To be honest I am not too bothered as long as the food is good. Never been there which is odd given I know it has been there a long time and it does look good on the website. Can't see the menu for some reason though... I assume it is a French with the name?

I thought the food was ok and cheap for what you got. Always seemed busy too.

It is french and is possibly one of the best restaurants in Leeds. You should give it a go.

Can recommend the food in Browns on The Headrow - went a couple of weeks ago and while it ain't cheap, you get what you pay for. Very busy as well, even early on a Saturday evening.

I do know that you often get nothing if you won't pay for it, so I assume it works the other way too.

Some of the best food I've tasted has been cheap food BTW

I'd agree with that to a point. You can get some to drawer curries at the cheapest establishments and the same goes for other cuisines too. I don't eat at posh places enough to know much about them but mid-range stuff can often be a dissapointment - all pre-cooked and reheated crap.

I'd also say cheap food is by far the best in terms of what you cook yourself. Especially with meat - though I'm thinking more of the cheaper cuts rather than the cheapest butchers.
