I unfortunately missed out so im too am having to drive and need advise on parking?!

Last time i went to Salford was back in 07 on the coach, first game of season, and i cannot remember the surroundings of the stadia. All i can remember is that it was a nightmare after the game with traffic.

All i remember is getting back to our coach and finding the tyres had been slashed. There is a carpark though at the back the Away end which is easy enough.

Lots of on-street parking near the ground but you are taking a chance wherever you park in Salford (although it is nowhere near as bad as it used to be). Some side streets have cones on them, so try and stick to the main roads - without restrictions.

Take everything of value out of your car and remove any stickers which hint that you might not be from Salford.

Just use common sense and you'll be fine.

However i seem to remember the coach parking behind the away end and been stuck in a traffic jam for an hour. All swings and roundabouts in this malarky!

Thats the one, we left the minibus there opening day 2years ago! We was stuck in traffic abit too but nothing a few cans couldn't sort

We've used the car parks at Salford Quays in the past, they do require payment and you need to check that they'll be open in the evening when you return but you can spend a pleasant hour wandering the Lowry etc and then hop on a tram to the ground, its a five minute ride and your car is safe.

We've always parked on the street at Salford and in 23 years I've never had a problem, where as at Saints I've lost windows and tyres.

If you are concerned about this just go early and pay for parking.

I parked on the streets in Salford and for 4 years on the trot something happened to my car, window smashed, keyed, broken into & tyres slashed!

The worst incident we ever had was at Cas. They tried to steal the stereo but couldn't get it out, so they broke it (Looked like the used a screwdriving to make the CD entry slot look like a sharks mouth). But they were so bitter they also stole the knobs and dials off all of the controls, plus the indicator and wiper stalks and smashed the side windows.

Driving home that day was fun. It was about -3 on the M62 with all four windows open and us unable to turn the heating in the car on because they had removed the dial.

There is a school very near to the ground on Weaste Lane where you can park, cost £3 the last couple of times we've been. Safe & secure and easy to get away from after the ground.

Gets full very early so get there early.

Can you not get someone (Preferably female) to drive you there and drop you off? The Trafford Centre and Lowry centre are <5 minutes away, so they could drop you and go shopping for a couple of hours.

given how many bandwaggoners there will be in the ground tonight compared to normal away games...

I've used street parking at Salford for about the last 30 years and never had any trouble - heard about trouble but never seen any. We have always parked on the street just above where the away fans come out (near the club).
