Good performance last week came at the right time, nice finish and assist.

Just depends on the long term viability at Leeds. He has struggled to break into the team. All depends how we move on from Smith. If we sign another centre, then there's hardly a sniff of first team rugby, as he will be jostling with Watkins.

It may be of benefit to him to secure first team rugby elsewhere. But more of the same for him can only help his chances.

Depends if they are making a marque centre signing.

If they are, no point in extending, let the lad rebuild his career elsewhere.

If there not then get him resigned. I still think the lad has the qualities. He certainly had them 2-3 years ago and looked a fine prospect.

May also be worth noting that he's still only 22, I forget that.

Yes good point. Gotcha also make a good point. Suppose it will depend on next years targets.. I suspect with Smith's exedus there'll be room to sign him and a top centre. Interestingley Senior mentioned after the game on Saturday that he's no problem being in the 2nd row next year if required....

Still not convinced he offers more than either Watkins or Ratu in the medium to long term personally, but that's just my opinion.

We do but Gibson's no Keith Senior replacement. I'm certain of that.

Don't know how much the injury has taken out of him.

From reports, JJB mentioned at his Q&A last week that it took him nearly 2 years to get over his injury and Ash remarked that he's in the same boat. Difficult decision, especially considering what's coming through, but I'd like us to keep him for at least another season.

I would imagine he'll want a 2 year deal or he'll walk away.. the lad needs security. Salford, Wakey, KR, Cas, Crusaders could do worse...add to that FC..

i wouldnt rule either of them out i think its best to have to young players competing for the job then you can take the best one

i think both have the skills but gibson loks like he will fill out more if he was to put more gym time in but then again watkins has the pace on gibson

I'm quite happy to defend my opinion where challenged, and it's an opinion rather than a prediction or a statement of fact.

Only those with opinions they can't back up are fearful of having them used against them.

It’s a difficult one – Gibson will be looking for a full timers wage now, which he could probably get at another club.

We’ve not seen enough of him to know if he has truly got over his injury and probably wont for another six to ten months.

IMO we sign him on a two year deal and loan him out (with a recall clause) for year one.

And therein lies the difficulty. If he's dead set on a 2 year deal I'd let him go. It could come back to haunt us, but there you go.

Yep. So would i, but i'd make sure we were bringing in a top class centre before letting him go... then in reserve you'd have Ratu, Ben Jones Bish and Watkins.. with the latter being groomed to go left centre when Senior hangs his boots up.

Kallum Watkins is a left centre, Ashley gibson is a right centre.

I'm not sure you can have an "exodus" of one person.....

Re: Gibson, I reckon it depends on what sort of deal he's after and/or what sort of deal he can get elsewhere. The lad's got loads of talent, but whether he recovers well enough from his injuries to fulfill his potential remains to be seen. He's a risk well worth taking at the right price over the right period.
