| Right decision, he has done a lot for this club over the last couple of years but it was clearly time to go.

| Just to add I don't think there will be a bounce back, I envisage the opposite, I think Agar was well liked by the players so I wouldn't get our hopes up of it getting better any time soon.

| Inevitable. Shows he knew what was going on but couldn’t fix it. He’s an honourable man, and has just proved it. We move on.

| Had to happen I’m afraid.
The body language after games was showing a man at the end of his tether and out of ideas. How can we go from training the house down all week (allegedly) then stinking the house out come match day? More than that, repeating this week after week?
He has lost the squad (or at least certain players) and at least he hasn’t dragged this out any further.
Please though, no more ‘mates’ or short cut appointments, we have to get this right unless we are doomed to continue this cycle of crap.

JJB as head coach - is this for real? Another mates appointment - no doubt JP will be brought back into the coaching fold

| I'm glad it's happened relatively quickly before it became overly toxic. The next appointment is huge, I hope the club really take the time to find the right coach who can take us forward.

| This is actually a clever decision. He wasn't sacked, so can have his future role. It doesn't mean we shoehorn in another coach in time to get hammered by saints and cas, but also means we will have a much needed change of coach.
I don't think Agar lost the squad. I think if anything, he was too pally with them, and not a coach they were afraid of.
Time to put the playing squad on notice. We need an outsider who will come in and objectively look at the squad, irrespective of previous performances or squad numbers.

| JJB and Sean Long in charge doesn't inspire confidence. More chance with Ant and Dec! Especially when somebody else is appointed they should be gone or perhaps into another club role in JJB case.
Need to write this season off and take time to get the right man and his own team of coaches in place ahead of next season. No obvious candidate currrently available.

| From the outside looking in I'm really not sure what Agar has done to engender such loyalty from the Rhinos board? He doesn't strike me as being any more worthy to be in a DOR role than a head coach role. If he had a glittering CV of previous coaching and leadership greatness then fine, but where is it?
Are there any rumours on where you go from here? Will Sean Long be given a chance? Or JJB? Or straight to the assistant coach market in the NRL? Plenty of worthwhile candidates there.
There are some decent senior coaches available in Danny Ward with his Leeds ties, Paul Green from the NRL. Cameron Ciraldo at the Panthers has a big reputation and wants to be a head coach, Michael Monaghan likewise, currently at Manly I think?

Yep, agree with this. Time needs to be taken now to get a top quality appointment in. It's a big big moment for the club now, enough is enough with the transition.

| Thank you Richard for what you have done for the club over the last 3 years. From where you took over to where we are now in a much better position. Recriutment has been good (mostly) and at the beginning of this season I was full of optimisim. Not sure where it has gone wrong and by the sound of it neither are you. You have done the right thing by the club throughout your tenure and i wish you luck in your new role. I'm sure you will apply the same good diligence you have as a head coach. Shame it had to finish in such a fashion

| Resigning now is best for all concerned. If the relationship with players turned toxic he couldn't be DoR. Now the focus is on the players - if we rebound it will show they'd lost faith in Agar. If not its worse as it suggests they just aren't very good.
As for a replacement who knows? There are some NRL coaches looking for head coach jobs like Green and Flanagan. I wouldn't mind so long as they saw getting Leeds back on track as key to their chances of another NRL gig. Need to be careful, but the last thing we should worry about is someone who will be afraid to shake up the team.

Exactly. To me this was always the concern with Agar ceasing to be the coach. I would argue that both JJB and Long are equally culpable, if not more so, for the current mess but now they are in charge! What chance of them leaving the club when a new coach is finally appointed? Slim, I would think.

Long will go but getting JJB out could be a challenge for any coach and if the rumours regarding Furner are true his presence could have a negative impact on who will apply for the role.

Paul Green could be a good shout - Flanagan no chance - can't they get Trent Robinson?
